I couldn't get your link to work nycyn. Are you talking about 67% of Americans wanting to strike Iraq?

I can't get it to work either.
If so, KD, are they willing to send their sons and daughters to go do it? Or are they counting on defeating Sadaam with more long-range cruise missles that we don't have?
You see, opinion polls aren't always worth a crap!

I think it's gonna happen though Borillar. The war in Afghanistan is pretty much over. Why troops are still there is beyond me. The U.N. recently failed to reach another agreement with Iraq regarding arms inspections, so Bush's MAD!!!

Surveys/polls, even when they are scientifically done, are garbage. Particularly the ones that can be "stuffed."
It all depends on how they are written. They are only "snapshots" of the moment.
A couple of years ago, both sides of a local political issue were claiming the exact same percentage number of the population's majority for their support. I often wonder if they hired the same company.

Modern scientific polls (a la Gallup et al) have been CONSISTANTLY shown to be accurate within tenths of a percentage point.
I also don't really understand all the confusion about Iraq considering:
1) the administration has said Hussein goes.
2) the big "fight" in the press where the admin said they would not acquiesce to Congress' demands for actions against Iraq until they were ready.
3) the military's statements that actions would not be taken until winter due to weather and the re-supply of depleted "smart" weapons.
4) The little tidbits in the papers announcing the new base created virtually overnight in Qatar has the longest runways in the region AND hardened hangars.
My friend's uncle runs the military piers at Port Newark and they are loading ships like crazy.
Today they are reporting Hussein is backing off on inspections again. Anyone THIS stupid really has to go.

It doesn't surprise me. Look at the approval rating of George Bush. Let's just hope that finer minds prevail when this decision is made.

The timing is critical. I predict that the rhetoric will increase, the degree depending on what the polls show for the fall elections. If the democrats are ahead by October, we will have to strike as soon as possible. If the republicans have a comfortable majority, we'll wait until just before or after Christmas. It can't be postponed too long, however, because there are still 59 countries to go.

Exactly Helen! These polls are just filler....entertainment. CNN is so one sided. I'm sure they must be in Bush's pocket somehow.
aurora, I really like your posts, but I HATE the word #*!@. I understand your humour, but can't you use another word?

I'll try,
I know I got pretty hot at a few for being easy on the reds. My cousin came home from vietnam....in a box.
Like to see Jimmy Carter pardon him. and I know what Bill did while he was there serving his country.
They brought his decapitated and mutilated corpse home to be buried next to his finace who was murdered here while at work. They never solved her murder. and there was never any justice for the families of the KIA in Vietnam. years later when his father died while his mother was at the funeral some slick type read the obituary notice and broke into the home stealing the medals he had earned and smashing the pictures of him and his finace.
The cops never solved that one either.
I have a lot more than average to be ticked off about.
