Dear President Bush,
I am a 30 something single mother and want you to know I am very upset that I must go to work everyday just to put food on my table. I expected my government to feed and clothe me and my children everyday, not go out and work, that is for those “other” people. We liberals know that government has more money than it really needs, we don’t need any military or organization that doesn’t provide some free services for people like me who don’t feel that working is a viable option.
Even though I fully support abortion, neither me nor my teenage daughters have chosen to use it, after all you get more money for more children. You owe us better health care though, even though my grandchildren get free medical care, where is mine and my daughters. Isn’t that the governments’ responsibility to provide as many handouts as possible for those of us not willing to work for it.
If we knew who the fathers were, we would tell you, but you making us going to work, is not the answer, we need more time at home to think about which man it could be.
In closing I do expect you to provide more handouts; after all it is hard work raising all these illegitimate children. If you do not I will continue to call you nasty names and will be voting against you in 2004, that is if I am not to lazy to register.
I also expect you to fix that social security system, how am I going to be able to draw my share once I hit age 67? You know I wasn’t intelligent enough to think about retirement early on, I expected my government to give it to me.
In conclusion, I hope you understand that the key words here are “free” and “handout”; I don’t want to have to be like those “others” and work for a living, that shouldn’t be the “American Way”.

But then again it does cover all their ideals and thought processes.
I'm surprised there's not a paragraph about Ebonics being a second Language or there rights to have a big home in a better neighborhood. Free cab rides to the social service office, more money for there druggie brother, mother, sister or child, Free Nike's till there kids are 35. It would go on and on.
It's the freedoms they have forgotten. It's a socialist government they want.

You seem to think welfare for the rich is fair becouse thats what Bush is doing. At the same time he is ruining our childrens future,draining social security,making peoples 401ks into 201ks,privatizing healthcare,privatizing medicare,raising taxes for the middle class and the poor,3,000,000 jobs have been lost,rising defesits,and I can go on and on.
You describe the far lefts way of economics.
I disagree with that also. Progressive democratic economics is what works.

2.Prescription Drug Benefits
3.Investing in Science and Technology
3.Investing in Buildings,schools,and roads
4.Investing in energy seficiency,and new energy resources

6.Investing in Job Training
7. Tax cuts for the middle class
8.Fair trade
Everything I just listed creates jobs. When you create jobs the economy grows. Every class benefits,and every class gets richer
When the economy grows so does the power of the country
That is how you run an economy.
The government has alot more to do with the growth in the economy.
Heres a good example how serious democrats are about the economy.
Every policy they make somehow benefits the economy.
They want everyone to be able to contribute to it.
Its not about handouts. Its about growth and strength.
The only reason drugs are illegal i becouse people get addicted and then they lose their job and then they dont contribute to the economy.
This president has done nothing to contribute to the economy.
On the contrary. He has done everything to drive this economy and the American people into total damnation.

TXPROUD: your poem was a crock the first time it was published, and still is. Go find ONE documentable instance of immigrants coming to this country and getting welfare and medicaid. No BS please, real WELFARE and real MEDICAID.Show us proof of how immigrants get rich off of welfare. You won't find it because it's a jingoistic bunch of crap. Immigrants, legal and illegal both, come to this country to take the jobs many Americans consider beneath them. Other immigrants, better skilled, come because AMERICAN COMPANIES realize they can increase profits by cutting labor costs when they hire foreign engineers, programmers, etc. Ever wonder why there are so many Pakistanis running motels along the interstates? You think WELFARE bought those hotels for them? Guess again. Hard working families pitching in and helping each other is what got those hotels for them. It all sounds like the American Way to me. Lots of Americans are too lazy and spoiled to go figure out the system, work hard and do it themselves. Tough.

I lived in CA, I know that's not true. Some seem to only think of farm work, motel maid type of jobs when the say things like that.
There are many in the CA construction industry....dry wall, general construction who can't find work because of immigrants taking those jobs for less wages. You're fooling yourself if you think differently.

YES!!!! Be sure and write your congressperson/representative and INSIST they vote to repeal Immigration law L1. It's taking jobs aways from many very willing to work Americans.

The reason immigrants prosper in this country for the most part is hard work and being able to handle the insults hurled at them simultaneously. Putting value in an education doesn't hurt either. The myth of the lazy welfare collecting immigrant is simply that a myth.

For those who are interested in supporting American's having first rights to jobs in American, rather than first going to immigrants please read this site and then contact your congressperson. This bill has just been sponsored and will soon [I hope] be going through the normal procedures before it's vote on.
It's related to the importation of foreign workers and involve two bills regulating visas that are handed out.

That's bull. People in my neighborhood are competing to pick up dog crap for money. We have family-run gardener businesses. And they are not immigrants.
What really pisses me off is that most of the Sacramento County construction workers can barely speak English. Most of them are probably illegals but how the heck did they get well-paying county jobs?!
The janitors union went on strike a while back. They had a lot of nerve since most of them were illegals!
And now they want to give illegals drivers licenses.

If your county is hiring illegals, then I'd say you have an issue with your county. I doubt you can document your assertion, but even if it's true, maybe they were the best qualified..

Is the union run by illegals? I doubt it. Union leaders generally make the decision to strike if I'm not mistaken. But you'd have a tough time blaming US citizens for making the decision to strike, wouldn't you? Much easier to blame the illegals.

It takes a driver's license to get insurance in my state, and I bet it does in Ca. too. No license, no insurance = uninsured drivers all over the place, because I'm sure you know, lack of a license rarely keeps anyone who needs to drive to work from driving. I'd just as soon an illegal behind the wheel of a vehicle coming at me had insurance as not, how about you?

The reason why many companies hire illegal immigrants is because they know they will work for the way below average salary that they offer them. Either because they are illegal immigrants and they know, for fear of being deported they are not going to make a big stink about the miserable pay they are given for the job being done. Also, to the wages many immigrants are paid in there home land, this is great money compared. These companies exploit the fact that they are illegal immigrants and the fact that many just do not know any better. Then they try to say American workers are to lazy or it's beneath them to do this job. Nonsense! We here in America should not have to work for unfair wages. We are not lazy or spoiled, we just want what we deserve for a hards days work. Just because we have a situation with immigrants willing or in some cases practically being forced to work for less than fair wages does not mean that the rest of America should have to work for less money. Would you be willing to take a pay cut because an immigrant came here and told your boss he would do the job for less than half the money you are. I don't think so!
