I'm with you completely, but there sure seem to be a lot of people who think it's a mistake to kill him.
I cannot honestly say I've researched the reasons for keeping him. But seriously, how can his death "destabilize" the region any more?

Sadam - Arafat - and various other evildoers...
When you accept the casual use of murder for a tool you invite tit for tat.
It has always been obvious to people that actually killing a major government official is not terribly hard. The hard part is getting away with it and escaping.
But the sort of crazies we are talking about now will blow themselves to hamburger to kill a handful of unimportant strangers at a bus stop. So it seems like foolishness to encourage a bunch of them to seek a more significant martyrdom. George II or one of his close buddies like Cheney may yet look up and regret his invitation to bring it on if he sees a fellow in the crowd reach up and rip a lanyard on his bulky coat.....
I do not envy the details that protect him. It seems like an impossible thankless job. Especially if you are not personally in awe of him as a mini-god and just doing a job.

So, killing Arafat is the new peace plan? Do any of you honestly think he, alone, has that much power? Will that bring the Palestinians closer to getting some land to rebuild their homes so they can get out of those tents? Will it give the Israelis a sense of peace? No, it'll add to the middle east quagmire making the U.S. and Israel prime targets for added terrorism.
Maybe some people think Bush needs to be killed in order for world peace. Would that be OK too? I mean, what's the difference?

Yep, it's gotta be rough defending the highest profile assassination target in the world.
The Secret service must really be working overtime nowadays. You know there have to have been LOTS of attempts, and they've all been defeated so far.
It's not like the old days when an assassin would try to kill someone and then get away. These nuts don't care if they get away or not. That makes the job just so much easier for them. Preparing and defending against that mentality has be nearly impossible.
It's pretty surprising that no one has even come close yet. At least not that we've heard about

I am sure there are crazies out there that feel just like you Kraft... thinking and doing it is completly different.
Many think it, but few have inside what it would take to do it.
However Israel Mossad is very good at this very thing and if or when Israel decides to go through with it... it will be done...
and the one that follows will know to get something done or he too could be next
Of course I do understand also Kraft.... people like you would rather give everything away in order to avoid the right thing.
...also those protecting our President and others are doing just what they signed up for... A JOB... if it bothers them then time to look elsewhere...

Well, if they're so good at assassination, why didn't they offer their services to the U.S. and have Saddam or Osama taken out?

We have a law against it, so to be open about it would be against the law... so is smoking pot, and we know how that is enforced...

Yes, we have a law against assassinating a killer, but not about killing thousands of innocent people. This administration already broke laws, what difference would breaking one more have made besides saving the lives of those people (namely our soldiers)?
I don't think Arafat acts alone just as Hussein did not act alone. Killing one man, I'm afraid, isn't going to change things. It will spawn more anger.

These folks must have lost their roadmap. Maybe the President could send them another copy.
