Canadian gay married couple denied entry to US
2 hours, 49 minutes ago
MONTREAL (AFP) - The United States denied entry to Canada's first legally married gay couple because they had filled out a single customs form as a family, Canada's foreign ministry said.
A US customs official at Toronto Pearson International Airport denied entry to Kevin Bourassa and Joe Varnell, CBC television said.
They are the couple whose case led an Ontario court to recognize gay marriage in June.
The customs agent denied them entry as a family because the United States does not recognize same-sex marriage. The United States allows all members of a family to use the same form.
The two men refused to fill out separate forms and canceled their trip to Braselton, Georgia, where they were due to participate in a human rights conference.
Doug Elliott, a lawyer for the couple, told the CBC he was considering legal action against the Canadian and US governments.
"A law in Canada does not have extra-territorial application. Each country is free to impose conditions of entry to its territory," foreign ministry spokesman Reynold Doiron said.
Varnell and Bourrassa celebrated their union in January 2001 in Toronto, a few weeks after the Netherlands enacted a law allowing gay marriage. They won their legal battle to have their relationship legally recognized as marriage in the province of Ontario.
A court in British Columbia followed soon afterward.
Canada's federal government is considering legislation that would recognize same-sex marriage throughout the country.

Yep, things is right Bear...
Would of loved to been there to see their deviant faces as they were told they couldn't come in as a married couple... notice they had the chance to come across as two singles.
Wonder how the Canadian govt will view same sex marriage, now that they know that the US will not support it...

Here's a thought!
All the gays should move to Canada.
They would be happier there. They'ed love bowing to the Queen!
They wouldn't have to travel as far.
And if we wanted to see them we could watch BBC.
AND we could give them a Medal in recognition of helping their Country!
They'd all be HEROS or HEROINES!

For some reason, I get the feeling you guys are gay because of the protesting-too-much thing. But being the good Christians that you are, I'm sure it's just my imagination.

Well you could say I am better than "gay" I am estatic that they are not allowed in.
Not trying to "blow" anyone's mind... just showing you that we don't care for the deviancy that seems to be acceptable in the socialist country to the north.
Seems to me you were pretty quick to post about canada might allow same sex marriages... they might get married, but they are not welcome here.

I ‘hang’ with a couple of gays and I can only speak from personal experience, but can honestly say that I have never been ‘tempted’ to French kiss any of them or engage in any other sexual activity.
K.D., you’ve got to think of the greater good. Perhaps some of the good’ol-Surthen-gyenalmin have good cause to keep distant from them,
You know; ‘lead us nart into temptayshun’.

Yeah, the temptation to do what their parents should of done when they "came out"; talk to them and get them the help they so despartely need.
I see by the hecklers, that they seem to be over looking the simple fact they could of entered the US as two individuals... we can't stop that....

Guess I'll think this is fair when some Saudi Prince is stopped at the border by indignant Christians because he is trying to come in with three wives and #2 and #3 have to come in as not part of the family.

Rev’ed Colin claims to “feel bad for the children of these marriages”.
His collaborator 12 can foresee no better future for these children than to say that “children of those sham marriages will be "targets"... “
Stand tall guys, morality is not relative; it’s what you think it should be.
Accept no one else.
Keep it pure!
Oh and btw 12 “(nothing in life is "fair" ”
Do you think we could stretch that to ‘every now and then on rare occasion life is fair’?
Feast your extreme nationalistic right wing eyes on these children’s stats’:
http://www.meandmymouse.com/web_site_networker/archive/0397/030997sexed.html
“Arizona, for example, wants to cut out-of-wedlock births to 37.5 percent of all births by 2005, from 38.2 percent in 1995. Florida wants to reduce the rate to 32.13 percent in 2005 from 35.76 percent in 1995.”

The reason I know is because I have read news articles about Saudis coming to the US for medical care and they often bring a couple dozen of their family to stay and rent a whole floor or two of a hotel. Sometimes they spend several million dollars for such a trip obove the cost of the medical care.
However now that they have made it harder to get a visa to come in sme of the hospitals and clinics have seen their business drop way off. They are going to Germany instead.
Of course you xenophobes will be happy not to have the sand N*****S here. They may bring in bombs while they are getting bypass surgery. Better just to put a big wall up around the sacred soil of the fatherland...

Gravid - ever consider that maybe tthe Arabs in question submit individual forms?
The couple in question was not forbidden entry into the US. They were told they had to fill out seperate forms and refused to do it. Had they filed individually there would not have been a problem.
One more thing... Saudi princes enter under diplomatic papers.... whole different world.
