Stop! No Krogers here.. but I am glad you brought this subject up..

Over the past five years, I must have bought at least four different kinds of coffee makers, trying to get a good cup of coffee.

I have tried every blend of coffee, grind my own, etc. and never get a good cup like you get in a Dunkin Donut or Crispy Cream.. ya know what I mean. I thought it was my lousy water, so I bought bottled water.. but still yuck.. I have just about given up on making coffee for myself at home..
Does anybody have the secret of a good home brew? Doc

Put a large cup of water in the microwave and set it for 2-1/2 minutes. When it goes ding take it out and stir in one heaping teaspoon full of Folgers instant and then add cream and sugar to taste or what I prefer is about half of one of those little pink sweetener packs and some powdered non-dairy coffee creamer. It works for me.

Yellow ROFLMAO...WHAT!!!

Instant coffee in the mic..after all the money I have spent on coffee machines, grinders, bags of beans, bottled water etc...NO.. don't tell me to put a teaspoon of instant in cup of water.. HA!

Seriously.. I have tried instant in the microwave and it comes out like mud, not clear but murky, with foam on the top.. tastes like poop. I like my coffee black, no sugar or cream..

I don't know what the microwave does, but it turns it into some cloudy, murky, bitter tasting, spine shuttering, gaggable swill...

i agree, all that money spent on coffee makers and grounds and not to mention your precious time on how to brew a good cup of coffee!
i have tried the new orleans coffee with chicaree??damn, how do you spell chicaree??
They mix this damn chicaree with coffee to reduce cost, and that damn chicaree is what makes new orleans style coffee different.
you may want to try that,or add some thing to it like cinnamon, hazel nut or better presentation, like a fancy coffee mug, server,or move it to the veranda or a sun room.
or pretend you just won the state lottery!!
It may all be in your head!!

Yellowstone, sorry to say but you have just proved what most people have thought all along. YOU HAVE NO TASTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not even your failed leader Geo. Bush would agree with you on this one and he is dumber than a doorknob.

Here is a tip. When you put your coffee into the drip try shaking a little salt with it and that should take the bitterness out of the coffee. Now don't over do the salt.

Why is folgers coffee mountain grown?

I will be back later and see if someone knows that answer. Have a great day

Stop.. I enjoy chicory, espresso, and cappuccino.. but I still say you can't get a good cuppa-joe home brewed.

Libra, thanks for the tip..I will try it.

Why is Folgers Mountain grown?

Because Juan Valdez, says only the finest coffee beans are grown in the mountains of Colombia.. and he hand picks them and carries them down the mountains on his donkey to a Krogers near you!

Oh and speaking of Folgers coffee beans.. here is something I bet you didn't know..

Not only is Folgers coffee a great way to wake up in the morning it's also a great way to insulate your genitals while participating in athletic competition. Dr. Juan Valdez, our head researcher has modified the standard athletic supporter to hold freshly ground Folgers coffee beans.

According to Dr. Valdez, "Coffee grinds are the perfect way to keep your bits and pieces safe. Forget about liquids, jells, kevlar, and polystyrene materials. They're junk, plain and simple. The only way to stay safe is with coffee. Our grinds can fill every part of the cup that you don't. On impact the grinds act as a barrier, keeping both the cup and whatever struck it a safe distance away."

Since the dawn of time mankind has been driven by the need to keep the male reproductive organs safe. Finally, the Folgers coffee cup has done it with 99.991% accuracy.*

I have to admit that drinking instant coffee has ruined me to drinking brewed coffee but I had a long time to get used to it and now I really do like it. I will drink a brewed cup at friends and families homes or at restaurants but at home it's instant for me.

When I was around 18 years old I worked for a moving and storage company that had contracted with Folgers to store their test coffee. They had 10 pallets full of instant coffee stored in their warehouse, each pallet had about 100 cases and 18 jars to a case. When their testing was done Folgers came in and they took one jar from each case. I beleive it was a freshness, longevity test. They then gave the rest to the company that I worked for. The company gave me and all the workers basically all the coffee that we wanted. I literally had 50+ cases of coffee and after that I didn't buy coffee for around 10 years. These were the large 12 ounce jars. I gave alot away to friends and family but I still kept alot for myself.

The trick to making a good cup of instant coffee is to not add the coffee until the water is heated up. If you add it before you put it in the micro then yes it will froth up.

I drink my coffee with cream and sugar because I like my coffee like I like my women, hot, sweet and tan.

Ed to change brown to tan

My mother drinks instant coffee, for some reason,i must admit, instant coffee with lots of cream does taste good.
But yellow, let me ask you this-instant coffee stains your teeth worse than tea or brewed coffee??

So you just brush your teeth more, no problem there. I guess you could say that drinking instant has a kind of theraputic attribute if it makes you brush more.

Besides just try baking a coffee cake with ground coffee, it doesn't work, instant works better.

Okay for the answer.

"The Jolly Green Giant Peas in the Valley."

What a beautiful day today. Took a ride to Lake Geneva. Oh so many people it's hard to get a parking place but we did and sat by the lake. I guess it's like watching a wide screen TV. It doesn't take much to amuse me.

Why is Folgers Mountain grown?

The reduced air pressure and cool climate at 4,200 feet creates optimal conditions for custom slow roasting for full flavor development.

In my opinion Dinkin' Donuts has the best coffee.

Ok, I have a food question for you. I have eaten all sorts of fruit pies. Apple, peach which is my personal favorite, cherry, boisenberry, blackberry, strawberry, strawberry rhubarb which is my second fav, blueberry, etc. Why have I never seen a pie made out of pears, is there such a thing as pear pie??

Ah Linda, you know me so well.

Thanks for the pear pie links, I will have to copy a good one and give it to my Mom, she likes to bake. There's no better pie than one made by Mom, she adds a special ingredient to everything she cooks.

My grandmother was the best pie maker in the world. Farmers wife who picked the fruits straight from the vines...and made two pies everyday of her married life. None tasted better.....with the exception of your mother's of course.

And just what was her secret ingredient? instant coffee? Or aren't you sharing it?

Yes it is love.

Now, my Grandmother was one helluvacook and i'll bet yours was too Linda. She worked at the state hospital for 25 years and she was the head chef. Boy oh boy what I would give for just one bowl of her chili right now, red or green chili. Everything she made was delicious. Homemade tortillas, chicharones, bischochitos, frijoles, oh and the homemade bread. I sure do miss her. <a single tear runs down my cheek>

Instant coffee is like cheese from a spray can [and Miracle Whip}. Just plain nasty. You might be able to get a single pot of decent joe out of a whole 13 0z. can of what Kroger passes off as coffee....don't like Folger's either, Juan Valdez be damned. Give me Cafe Combate, http://www.cafecombate.com/ingles/bienvenido/bienvenido.php, el sabor de México. If you don't want to make French press, espresso, or Coffee From A Sock like I described before, get yerself a Bunn coffee maker. Just like the restaurants use. I have one at home and it's lasted for years and years. Always has a pot of water hot, makes a restaurant good pot in 3 minutes, with none of that burping and chugging you get from the walmart drip pots.

Each to his own I say, what some think is just plain nasty others might like but I will agree with you on the spray cheese. Miracle Whip I like with grilled cheese sandwiches.

Some might not like Mexican food, I love it. I also like Italian food and I like Italian mixed with Mexican. Spaghetti with a good red chili sauce made with meat is great by me.

I agree with that. I like very strong coffee without cream. It's sometimes funny to see people react when I serve them my version of "good coffee". Like the shoe fly pie tune, a cup of my coffee makes your eyes light up and your stomach say howdy. Hahaha!

The Bunn pots are great! The only problem with them is that they don't have an automatic timer...maybe the newer models have that feature?

I just checked the model A10, which is the one I have. It still doesn't have a timer or drip stop. Strictly manual. The drip stop doesn't really matter since it makes a full pot in only 3 minutes.

I haven't even seen a Kroger's since I left Texas........

I often say about my coffee..."I like it like my man, tan and sweet". I drink mine with half & half, (or Baileys when I need a non-dairy creamer...lol), and sugar.

I, also, put a dash of salt in my grounds prior to brewing. It takes out some of the bitterness.

TerryAnn

PS- For some reason, I really want a piece of pie.

Didn't someone in this forum once tell us that Kroger's is the same as Albertson's?
