Pat Robertson: God tells me it's Bush in a blowout
Associated Press January 2 2004
NORFOLK, Va. -- Pat Robertson said Friday that God told him President Bush will be re-elected in a landslide.
"I think George Bush is going to win in a walk,'' the religious broadcaster said on his ``700 Club" program on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded.
"I really believe I'm hearing from the Lord it's going to be like a blowout election in 2004. It's shaping up that way," Robertson said.
"The Lord has just blessed him," Robertson said of Bush. "I mean, he could make terrible mistakes and comes out of it. It doesn't make any difference what he does, good or bad, God picks him up because he's a man of prayer and God's blessing him."
Earlier on the program, Robertson had explained that he wanted to share "some of the things that I believe the Lord was showing me as I spent several days in prayer at the end of 2003."
Robertson also said that this year will be one of "extraordinary prosperity'' and that God will bless China in 2004 "in a way it's never known before."
"God loves China and he loves the Chinese people," Robertson said. "I believe there's going to be an unbelievable spiritual revival taking place in China this year."
The Rev. Barry W. Lynn, a frequent Robertson critic and executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, said he had a prediction of his own.
"I predict that Pat Robertson in 2004 will continue to use his multimillion broadcasting empire to promote George Bush and other Republican candidates," Lynn said in a statement. "Maybe Pat got a message from (Bush political adviser) Karl Rove and thought it was from God."
Pat Robertson, what a nutcase. Didn't he run for president a few years back? What in the hell would we be doing now if somebody like him ever won?

We laugh and shake our heads and poke fun at this poor misguided soul.. but, never underestimate the power of the bible thumper.
Living in the bible belt of the South, sadly, hundreds and thousands of people will believe him and will vote accordingly..
There are only a handful of thinking men/women, unfortunately the rest are sheep, easily led to slaughter... hummm.. that sounded pretty good.. maybe I should consider a profession in Religious Mind Warping and thievery...humm.. of course I wouldn't be able to collect overtime pay.. as a lieutenant in the God regime... I'd be disqualified!!

Actually the info on Robertson was brought out durung his run for president.
His brothers in arms recall Robertson waving goodbye to them in Japan as they shipped out for the war in Korea. Seems Robertson put in a call to his Seantor father and got his orders changed - he avoided the combat area and stayed in Japan-- sound familar ?
It was also pointed out that Robertson's wife was pregnant before he married her.

Well, Reamond, your post got me wondering enough to take a look. Interesting reading.
And let's not forget other immortal statements by Robertson (who, BTW, said when he was running for president that God had told him he was a shoo-in):
"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."--Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, January 14, 1991
"NOW is saying that in order to be a woman, you've got to be a lesbian."--Pat Robertson, "The 700 Club," 12/3/97
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians." -- Pat Robertson, fundraising letter, 1992
Well, why it's happening is that God Almighty is lifting his protection from us.
-- Pat Robertson, explaining on his 700 Club cable TV program why the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001
Individual Christians are the only ones really -- and Jewish people, those who trust God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob -- are the only ones that are qualified to have the reign, because hopefully, they will be governed by God and submit to Him.
-- Pat Robertson, The 700 Club television program, January 11, 1985, defending his stance that only Christians and Jews are fit to hold public office
I never said that in my life ... I never said only Christians and Jews. I never said that.
-- Pat Robertson, Time magazine, after having been confronted regarding his statement on The 700 Club of January 11, 1985
I read your book. When you get through, you [a reader] say, "If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer." I mean, you get through this, and you say, "We've got to blow that thing up." I mean, is it as bad as you say?
-- Pat Robertson, to syndicated columnist Joel Mowbray, author of Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Endangers National Security; the U.S. Department of State is located in Foggy Bottom, a Washington, D.C., and Foggy Bottom is the nickname for the State Department's Washington headquarters.

Linda honey,
Pat says......
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."
Do you think that is true? I personally think that he is so involved into this bible thumping that it has really affected his ability to think correctly. I don't know that any women that are assertive in their lives are practicing witchcraft, killing their children, becoming lesbians.
Also, how does the feminist agenda "destroy capitalism"?
The simple fact is that none of these things are true. This just goes to show you what a real nut this thumper is.
Edited to add:
Witchcraft as he says, is actually called The Craft. It is what Wiccan practice. It is an older religion than Christianity. But of course, any buddy of Bush would fail to recognize the rights of others.

Linda honey,
I have another question that I hope you can answer for me. In the picture above, is Pat praying for people to vote for Bush, or is he really constipated? I am having a hard time telling the difference. What's your take on it?

yeager - First of all....I am NOT your honey.
Secondly you lefties, agnostics and atheists are the ones who bring up all these religious people and their beliefs....and usually are the ones quoting from the Bible too.
I chose not to discuss my personal religious beliefs here on these threads....they are between me and my God....and not meant to be made fun of, as you all love doing.
sorry to disappoint and spoil your fun.

Wait! There's more.
Robertson claims to have used the power of prayer to steer hurricanes away from his Virginia Beach, Virginia headquarters. He took credit for steering the course in 1985 of Hurricane Gloria, which caused millions of dollars of destruction in many states along the east coast. He made a similar claim about another destructive storm, Hurricane Felix, in 1995.
He agreed with Jerry Falwell that the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks were caused by "pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays, lesbians, the ACLU and the People for the American Way." Robertson later stated that he had not understood what Falwell was saying during the interview, which was conducted via television monitor.
On his 700 Club, Pat Robertson has on two occasions suggested a nuclear attack against the United States government. In two interviews with the author of a book critical of the United States Department of State, Robertson made suggestions that the explosion of a nuclear weapon at State Department Headquarters would be good for the country.
"What we need is for somebody to place a small nuke at Foggy Bottom" Robertson said between prayers and advertisements on his nationwide television program. Foggy Bottom is the location of the State Department headquarters. State Department officials said they believed the comments to be in extremely bad taste, and have lodged official complaints against Robertson for his remarks.
Is there anybody here that really thinks this person is even near an element of sanity?

OK Linda,
I understand. The fact remains if someone said what he says, people would think that person is a nut. And in this case, he is, really!!! I can see why you would have the need to support him. Robertson and Bush stand on the same side of the fence.
Also, I am NOT making fun of religion. Just stating my concerns that a bible thumper like Pat is trying to steer the country and every citizen in it, to his agenda. He doesn't care about a person's own rights.
Just as you don't like to express your personal beliefs here, he feels that his Company should control my life. Just being an American, while not trying to control his life.
Sometimes we clash here. But I bet you are as sweet as HONEY!

Pat R. is close to being certifiable. To defend Protestants everywhere, he represents a fringe (albeit a large fringe) of Protestantism. Most ministers I've known, including my own father and father-in-law and brother-in-law and cousin and uncle!!!!, would decry his stupidities. They've all said no real god would steer a hurricane away from someone's home/office only to steer it toward someone else's destruction. They've also said it's stupid to pray that your team will win, etc. And that Jesus himself told people to go to their closets to pray--that "out loud" boombox-type prayers, which everyone has to listen to, are showoffy ones intended, oddly, to tell God something He must already know, or he wouldn't be God, would he?!!
The only prayers I make are sort-of-prayers of thanks for being alive and having people in my life who love me.
