Wilson investigated the Niger claim and found it was bogus. Bush, after learning that the Niger allegations were totally unfounded, used the bogus information anyway to convince millions to go along with his phony war.
On the other hand, Dan Rather thought his documents were authentic.

I heard this evening they are thinking about leveling criminal charges. Something to the effect of broadcasting false and libelous information. ????
Other news organizations have rushed to air misinformation including NBC, CNN and a few others. Not to mention countless newspaper organizations. I think the media inside itself is really the one propelling this story.

Maggie, I see the irony you mention, yes. But youre really comparing apples to oranges I think. One is a president that made a decision effecting two countries (more than that, but basically) and the other is a newsman who aired the wrong information. The comparision is a little whacked to start with.
At least the voters will have a choice to decide now if they think the president made the right move and will continue making right choices for us. With Rather - this hanging in the court of public opinion is to me, ridiculous. Its like medieval times where people are calling for the guillotine!! Does it prove some bias on his part, maybe? But I think it was more a move to get a hot story aired.
I dont like the war and people dieing. I dont. The whole middle east is such a hotspot and has been for years. It seems we were predestined to be 'in it' one way or another.
They need a resolution and soon. Something is gonna pop just now. I can feel it coming.
