Isn't it strange that the religious right extremist are complaining about "activist judges"? This of course when the Supreme Court makes a decision against their biblical beliefs. When ever the court makes a decision whether it might be for abortion rights or gay rights, the bible thumpers are going to fume.

They are STILL complaining even though the court has been made up of mostly republican judges, with a ratio of 7 republicans to 2 democrats. Reagen and Bush 1 has appointed the majority of them. With this in mind, the religious right still isn't happy. They seem to want ALL of the judges to be of the ultra conservative nature. Let's hope that will never happen.

But even with the majority of the judges being of the republican party, the religious right seem to be loosing ground on the issues that are important to them. As I have said before, the court doesn't look to the bible for answers to the law. It's based on fairness and equality for all involved.

I thought it was the federal judges from the various districts who are making the righties mad, not so much the SC.

What has the Supreme Court done yeager? They wouldn't hear the "Under God" case, sent it back becauset the father didn't have custody... basically killing that case...semms like a victory of sorts for those of us supporting that...
Congress is going to take the homosexual marriage issue out of their hands... so that will be a non-case.

I am curious as to what you think they have done to cause the ire of the right?

Only thing they haven't done is reverse roe vs wade and that may soon change.

AIN'T LIFE GRAND...

Re-Elect President Bush... the only true choice.

Linda honey,

You are flipping out again. This thread is about the republican controlled Supreme Court and the cases that were decided against the RR.

I said.......

You responded,

Yes, it is. There is much yeager doesn't 'get'....this is just one of them. In reference to prof's comment.

But, in the Cheney stars in Gay Ad thread, you are quoted as saying in reference to the civil rights granted to Blacks and the handicapped.....

That's correct, but reversable with more conservative USSC judges on the bench. Another reason the outcome of this election is so very important.

Well Linda, how many more do you need on the bench? Maybe nine in total? Would that be enough? I have already pointed out the ratio there of republicans to democrats and the RR is still LOOSING cases.

Now, who's the one who isn't "getting it"?

Not if the SC declares the proposed legistlation (assuming it passes)unconstitutional.

Leave it to conservatives to try and pass a law that forbids the Supreme Court from having any say in the matter. It appears if the conservatives will try to get their way even if it goes against everything this country has been founded on....ever heard of checks and balances.
