Anyone tired of talking politics and know anything about dog nutrition experts? What would be the official title of someone that had done extensive study of the effects of nutrition on dog health? What would be their credentials? There is a college on line called "Cynology College". Is there an actual brick and mortar college that one would have attended? A degree that one would have received? I am asking because my vet is concerned about a diet I have gotten from a nutrition supplements website for my dog that has cancer. He would like to know if they are an expert in dog nutrition. The website says they have a degree in "Natural Health". Does anyone know what constitutes a degree in dog nutrition?

Wouldn't that just be an area of specialization for a regular veterinarian or clinical researcher?

You wouldn't need a dog nutritionist in every town, just someone to do the basic research and publish the right materials.

"Natual Health" sounds like holistic medicine to me. There might be something to it, but I wouldn't bet my dog on it.

If I were you, I would be very leery of anyone who is less than forthcoming in their proof that they are scientifically trained.

It's one thing for a human being to choose alternative therapies for themselves. It is quite another thing to subject an animal who is incapable of making choices to less than the finest and most sound treatment. Just my opinion of course.

Degrees in Natural Health are a dime a dozen.

That's it! The American College of Veterinary Nutrition. That's what I need to ask people. You are right, profe51, my vet went over the moon when he found out that I got a recipe and nutritional supplements from a website that sells natural supplements. Janie deserves the best nutrition to fight her mast cell and I was trying to get it for her, but I guess I better find someone that has the right degree. Thanks to everyone that helped.
