There will be no nursing home in my future.........
When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise Ship.
The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations at Princess and I can get a long term discount and Senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for:
1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.
2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the restaurant, or I can have room service (which means I can have Breakfast in bed every day of the week).
3. Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room, free washers and dryers, and shows every night.
4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.
5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.
6. I will get to meet new people every 7 or 14 days.
7. TV broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress replaced? No Problem! They will fix everything and apologize for your inconvenience.
8. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask for them.
9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on Medicare. If you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.
Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, or name where you want to go? Princess will have a ship ready to go. So don't look for me in a nursing home, just call ship to shore.
P.S. And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side at no extra charge.

fenix.
by the time you retire, princess may not be around or has upped its fee.
Also you have to be healthy and in the mood to enjoy Princess cruise-all that swimming, land trips, nite shows.
You will miss the land, there are more places to go,people to see on land.
If i know i am going to die of a certain illness and have so many days to live, the princess sounds good, and i will make sure i charge the whole trip to my credit card.

That's cute, fenix. I've seen it before and it is a nice dream. I think they need to change 'nursing home' to either 'elderly care facility' or 'retirement homes'.
Because the reality is IF the time comes one needs to be in a 'nursing home'...they usually aren't able to take care of themselves...and that's not a service the cruise lines offer. But it's a great dream.

Oh, linda, dear, getting nasty ? Little encouragement from your "friend" is all you need for the real "linda" to show.
Can't you remember deary, you made the first negative statement.....the memory goes first, no wonder you have to C&P so much....so sad.....didn't have much of a brain to start with and now that's going......

That's a sweet dream fenix!
Personally, I fully intend to become a burden to my wife and the kids. They've been warned. I won't be leaving this ranch till they carry me out feet first, and if they want the place when I'm gone, they'll do their damndest to keep the old geezer cleaned up and happy in the meantime. I'm gonna give the whole place to whoever does the best job

Great Choice. Princess is the best.
You'll never go hungry, plus you may fall in love after all Princess is the "Love Boat"

Here twelve,
Wow if that were something you could do, that would be cool...
I have found the perfect cruise for you. I think that you will really like it. Best of all, very affordable with cruise fares ever, starting at just $799!

LOL Prof! I can just picture the "screw up" tally marks notched into the rails behind your death bed and the note in the will saying it all goes to the member with the fewest notches in their rail
BTW - The parental units are getting rady to start construction on their house near Padre... any suggestions on the best area across the border for their tile search?

Padre....Texas?? Hijole, like we don't got enough tejanos already!!
Just kidding, I'm guessing the El Paso/Juarez crossing would be their best bet. Pretty much everything for sale in Mexico can be had and at competetive prices in CJ. Keep in mind, if they're planning to use terra cotta type Saltillo tile for their floors, the only real Saltillo tile is made in Saltillo, and all that you'll find along the border has been trucked from there north to the border cities, increasing costs. On top of that, the Mexican retailers have gotten smart and unless they're going to buy a semi-truck load it may not be worth the hassle. There is some Saltillo like stuff being made along the border somewhere, but the examples of it I've seen were much softer and didn't seem like they would be very durable. I've got hundred year old Saltillo in this house and it's beautiful. We still seal ours with linseed oil. Ceramic tile they may well save a good deal on. I'd go on a cross border weekend and ask around, cab drivers, hotel people etc., who are the best tile dealers around?

Well, you can't blame them... they have been in snow country for 25 years... used to send me pics of snow 3ft high at the door and drifted to 6 or 7 in the back. Their new back yard will include a dock.
I think Saltillo itself is closer to them that CJ.

Saltillo is a lot closer than CJ, but to go buy anything along the border you'll find it faster and just as cheap in CJ, Nogales, or TJ if you're in California. They might do well in Matamoros if they ask around too, or an interesting trip would be Matamoros (Brownsville) to Monterrey to Saltillo. I'd bet it's an easy day's drive, if they're the adventurous type

fenix03, great post its nice to see some fun around here. Made my Wife say "great way to go". Its too bad a couple compulsive posters here don't have a sense of humor like you.

LOL, an interesting idea, but I would rather retire on my own private boat -- away from all the other stuff that you find on a cruise boat.
Prof - I'm not sure how adventurous they are. I think the trip sounds like a blast, nothing quite like a great exploration but when I proposed it to them today I got the distinct feeling they want a name and phone number and a price before they go down so .... it's their house.
