Well, here is my post!

Today is October 11th, that means it's National Coming Out Day. So today's the day you should stop being a homophobe, and just open the door and come out of the closet.

You don't have to bust the closet door down, just open it and walk out. OK?

I agree, Yeager.

It's only sex, twelvepole. In the total scheme of things not very important and if enjoyed between consenting adults not harmful in any way. Rather than focusing and wasting so much time and energy in the consideration of this topic, why don't you just stop and use your time to find someone to share your joy whether it's homosexual or not.

October 3, 1980 - US Representative Robert Bauman (R-MD) was arrested in Washington DC for soliciting sex from a male prostitute. Bauman was a supporter of the Moral Majority and a founding member of the American Conservative Union. Wow! Another republican BIGOT!

October 3, 1997 - Paul Bradford Cain, a 26 year-old champion kickboxer, was sentenced to 25 years to life for the murder of gay scientist Dr Stanley Keith Runcorn. In a statement before his sentencing, Cain claimed he was the true victim because Runcorn made a pass at him. The judge disagreed, saying to Cain "I hope you rot in hell because what you did was callous and cruel."

October 4, 1983 - AFL-CIO voted to support gay rights legislation.

October 5, 1987 - The city commission of Traverse City Michigan voted unanimously to repeal a law banning the sale of condoms in city limits.

October 5, 1998 - The US Congress killed an amendment by Rep Frank Riggs (R-CA) which would have barred San Francisco from spending federal housing money to implement its domestic partner ordinance.

October 7, 1993 - The AFL-CIO unanimously approved a resolution to actively oppose attempts to repeal gay rights laws. The vote was held at the labor union's biennial convention in San Francisco.

October 7, 1996 - 250 students in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania walked out of class to protest the school board's passage of a "pro-family" resolution which banned positive discussion of homosexuality.

October 8, 1974 - The National Gay Task Force organized a protest over the airing of an episode of "Marcus Welby M.D." in which a gay man is portrayed as a rapist who preys on the junior high school students he teaches. Bayer Aspirin, Listerine, Gallo Wine, and Ralston Purina pulled their advertising from the episode.

October 8, 1997 - An episode of "Ellen" titled "Roommates" aired. It was given an adult content warning because of a kiss between Ellen and another woman.

Twelve, do you like Ellen? I do. I'm watching her right now on chanell 4, Detroit.

I think we spend an exorbitant amount of time in this country worrying about what other people are doing and not enough time worrying about what we ourselves are doing especially when it comes to petty issues like this one. We spend far too much time trying to push our values onto others. Could be said about what we try to do to the rest of the world. It's called arrogance.

What an ignorant idea that sex is an illness or that employees should receive benefits based on their sexual orientation. All citizens of this country no matter what their sexual orientation deserve all rights enjoyed by heterosexuals. There is a constant struggle for equality in our country and this one like racial and gender equality will be a tough one...especially if the Bush administration has another four destructive years.

Glad to hear it twelve. The CA voters have already expressed their wishes, no gay marriages. Now this further supports that law.

It is otherwise just an opinion that the CA Supreme Court can render useless. An opinion that fully supports what the CA voters voted against....gay marriage.

And it will most likely take another two years before a decision is handed down by the CA S.C. Much can happen in that time frame.

PRESIDENT BUSH ANNOUNCES RELIGIOUS AGENDA ON INAUGURATION DAY
Saturday January 20, 2001

BUSH PRESENTS HIMSELF AS 'DETERMINED FOE OF CHURCH-STATE SEPARATION,' SAYS AU

George W. Bush, sworn in today as the nation's 43rd president, announced a religious agenda in his inaugural address, including an emphasis on using houses of worship for providing publicly financed social services.

Just moments after being sworn in as president, Bush used a speech laced with religious rhetoric to explain the role religion will play in his administration.

"[S]ome needs and hurts are so deep they will only respond to a mentor's touch or a pastor's prayer," Bush said. "Church and charity, synagogue and mosque, lend our communities their humanity, and they will have an honored place in our plans and laws."

The Rev. Barry W. Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, expressed concern about Bush's comments.

"Bush apparently believes he was elected national preacher as well as president," Lynn said. "The newly elected president presented himself today as a determined foe of church-state separation. The Constitution he swore to uphold simply does not permit the president to merge religion and government.

"Churches and other houses of worship play a cherished role in our society, but they do not have a role in our secular laws," Lynn added. "Bush's remarks showed a gross insensitivity to the constitutional principle of government neutrality on religion."

Bush also used his inaugural address to emphasize his plans for education, remarking, "Together, we will reclaim America's schools, before ignorance and apathy claim more young lives." News agencies were reporting today that Bush will unveil an education plan on Tuesday that will feature vouchers for religious and other private schools.

"Far too much of Bush's agenda calls for a unity between church and state," noted AU's Lynn. "To protect the religious liberties of all Americans, his plans must be rejected by Congress."

In one of his first acts as the nation's chief executive, Bush issued a proclamation ordering today as a "national day of prayer." Bush, in the proclamation, called "upon the citizens of our Nation to gather together in homes and places of worship to pray alone and together and offer thanksgiving to God for all the blessings of this great and good land." He added, "I ask Americans to bow our heads in humility before our Heavenly Father, a God who calls us not to judge our neighbors, but to love them, to ask His guidance upon our Nation and its leaders in every level of government."

Ironically, Bush quoted Thomas Jefferson both in his inaugural address and his day of prayer proclamation. Jefferson, a staunch advocate of church-state separation, never issued a prayer proclamation in order to preserve government neutrality on religious matters.

"Bush would have been wise to follow Jefferson's example and allow Americans to make up their own minds about how and when to pray," said AU's Lynn. "It would have gotten the Bush presidency off to a much better start.

"The Bush Administration is only a few hours old and it already has signaled remarkable hostility for church-state separation," concluded Lynn. "Anyone concerned with this nation's religious liberties should realize that the next four years will be awfully busy."

Americans United is a religious liberty watchdog group based in Washington, D.C. Founded in 1947, the organization represents 60,000 members and allied houses of worship in all 50 states.

Good post logan,

The Reverend Barry Lynn is concerned about everybody's choice to a religion that is non sponsored or held in check by the government.

Bush is such a brazen bible thumper that people need to wake up. There is NO correct religion and everyone should make that clear to the government officials. Since Bush took office, I find our country slipping slowly in a near dictatorship in many areas. Civil liberties are on the way out with Bush.

twelve,

A couple of weeks ago in the tabloid, The World Weekly News, it said that gays are going to take over the world. The story said it would first take over the US water supply to introduce a gay chemical into it so everybody will turn gay. Then take over the US military and then other countries. This will allow them to put the gay chemical into the water supplies of these countries. Finally, then take over the economic system of the world.

I believe it, don't you? Play it safe and don't drink the water.

Logan,

Maybe you are right on him being an ex gay and having trouble dealing with it. So much for his conversion therapy.

I bet you wish that the whole world would go homo. On that site, you can find where Bush says this about Wicca, one of the world's oldest religions.
