Liberals Warn Sinclair Not to Broadcast Anti-Kerry Film

By Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - A liberal group dedicated to "correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media" is furious that Sinclair Broadcasting plans to have its stations air an "anti-Kerry attack film" between now and Nov. 2.

"Sinclair's plan to air anti-Kerry propaganda before the election is an abuse of the public airwaves for what appears to be partisan political purposes," said David Brock, CEO of Media Matters, in a letter to Sinclair Broadcasting.

In his letter, Brock warned Sinclair that airing the film "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal" could be a violation of broadcast regulations requiring equal time for political candidates -- as well as a violation of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law.

According to the "Stolen Honor" website, the film is a "documentary exposing John Kerry's record of betrayal."

A film excerpt printed on the website quotes a former Vietnam POW as saying that Kerry "committed an act of treason. He lied, he besmirched our name and he did it for self-interest. And now he wants us to forget."

"Stolen Honor" was produced by Carlton Sherwood, a former investigative reporter and thrice-wounded (and decorated) Marine Corps combat veteran.

The website says the documentary received its initial funding entirely from Pennsylvania Veterans. It notes that since the Stolen Honor website was activated in late August, additional funds have been received from individuals and entities nationwide.

"No political campaign, candidate or political party have been involved in any way in the financing or production of Stolen Honor," the website says.

On the film's website, Sherwood tells readers, "Intended or not, Lt. Kerry painted a depraved portrait of Vietnam veterans, literally creating the images of those who served in combat as deranged, drug-addicted psychopaths, baby killers."

In his letter to Sinclair Broadcasting, Brock wrote, "I don't have to remind you... (that) fourteen of the 62 stations the company either owns or programs are in the key political swing stations of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where the presidential election is being closely fought."

Brock, in a press release, also pointed to press reports saying that in the 2004 political cycle, Sinclair executives have given nearly all of their $68,000 in political contributions to Republicans.

Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" -- the film that spawned so many election-year "documentaries"-- made its video store debut last week

Oh yes...okay when they do it...just as you say with ol' michael moore...or just like dan http://www.ratherbiased.com did for two to three weeks straight on those documents they didn't even bother to investigate BEFORE putting them out as truth.

It's always that double standard they live by.

What you Bush supporters don't want to show is that Michael Moore made a movie and didn't break any Federal Election laws.

Sinclair's plan to air anti-Kerry propaganda before the election is an abuse of the public airwaves for what appears to be partisan political purposes and could well be breaking Federal Election laws.

But the good news is that the American people aren't buying all the Republican lies any longer.

HEY,HEY,HO,HO, JOHN KERRY IS THE WAY TO GO.

"could" then again 'might not be'. But it's absolutely NO different than what rather[biased] did. Using the airwaves to promote kerry.

Moore's 9-11 deserves great praise. I found nothing in it untrue.

I can't understand how any patriot could support a Saudi puppet like Bush.

I completely disagree, blairwitch as the Swift Boat Vets are from both parties and some are Independents too. Aware people know this group is not Pro-Bush but rather just anti-kerry.

And when the POW/MIA ads come out a couple of weeks before the elections, telling American's how they see what harm kerry did to them and their loved ones, it won't make kerry look good in their eyes at all. And that's a good thing....cause he sold them out. They suffered torture for not giving our enemies what kerry gave them. He was a traitor to our country and all those who served in VN.

And bush, DICK(5 Deferrment) cheney aided and abetted the enemy by being too chickenshit to fight in Vietnam at all.

They showed total disrespect for the soldiers who fought in that war by not backing them.

Kerry, under oath, told the truth.

He was one of MILLIONS who knew the Vietnam war was a mistake....only lonely linduh thinks it was a "good thing".
But then she adores bloodshed and war....but from a great distance.

The lowest form of human life will send others to war when they themselves are too cowardly to do the same.

Liberals who continue to mention deferments shouldn't be so jealous. kerry's applications for deferments were DENIED tsk tsk....theirs weren't. He didn't get to go off to Paris and avoid the draft as clinton was able to do in England. But he sure got out of VN asap....14 weeks. LOL

Another attempt to twist the truth by lindak. The TRUTH is that Clinton received a deferment for being a Rhodes Scholar, an achievement not obtained as a sleazy means to avoid service such as those by the rest of your arm chair warriors.

And, of course she follows her failed attempt by more derivise laughter.

For thousands of Iraqis, liberation has been nothing short of laser guided destruction and horror. The recent furor that arose following the release of images of dead servicemembers returning to Dover Air Base in flag-draped coffins, did more than hit home the cost of American lives. It demonstrated that, for all its many flaws, the U.S. military at least treats its dead with dignity and respect. For one thing, they count them. America’s policy of not counting the dead is not likely to win any points in the battle for hearts and minds. Nor is the treatment of those injured, let alone those killed. Clinton Fein’s Sweet Dreams is simply a compilation of photographs from all over the globe that doesn’t answer any questions, but suggests that the American Dream, for those in Iraq, is not so sweet.

Sweet Dreams

You're revising history again, helen. Can't get away with that.

Just cracks me up that the liberals were all defending clinton's draft dodging and posted reports of his committment to the ROTC that he DIDN'T keep...and that was the reason he didn't face the draft in the first place. Then he lied to the man that helped him out. Yea, another dem with not-so-good-character....another dem whose word means nothing.
----

taken from AmericanDaily.com ...just as a remind of what the liberals/dems were saying about clinton's draft dodging.
Just to refresh your short-term memory loss.

"In 1992 the Democrats defended Bill Clinton's draft evading ways as vehemently as possible. Many of them even celebrated him because he found a way to stay out of the military. The Democrats in 1992 wanted nothing to do with character or a candidate that had served in the US military in time of war.

The nomination of Bill Clinton served as a slap in the face to veterans, especially those who had served in Vietnam while Bill Clinton was evading his duty.

Democrats scoffed at the idea that military service mattered for a man seeking to be Commander-in-Chief of the United States armed forces. They scoffed when it was suggested that a draft dodger was unfit for the role of Commander-in-Chief.

Fast forward to 2004 and everything apparently has changed for the Democrats. Now they are trumpeting John Kerry as not only a veteran but a genuine war hero. And certainly he did acquit himself well in Vietnam, winning medals for his service there.

The Democrats have even taken to questioning George W. Bush's service record in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. Is this really the same Party which said Clinton's record did not matter?

[i]Yep, it SURE is.

Today every time you turn around another Democrat is on TV telling us how great a hero Kerry was. So when exactly did being a decorated war veteran become important to the Democratic Party anyway?

This is, after all, the same party which celebrated military votes being discounted in the 2000 presidential election.

If the Democrats could nominate a draft dodger in 1992 and actively seek to discount military votes in 2000 why would they so proudly fawn over Kerry a war hero?

Obviously of course the Democrats are driven by the desire to regain the White House. In 1992 the best shot they had was a draft dodging Bill Clinton so they dismissed his behavior in exchange for gaining power.

In 2000 Al Gore was locked in a super tight race with George W. Bush and needed military votes thrown out to win, so the Democrats thumbed their noses at our armed forces and campaigned to discount military votes in Florida.

Now, in 2004, the Democrats see John Kerry as their ticket back to the White House, so they have conveniently rediscovered the importance of the military and of war heroes.

But just what type of military hero was John Kerry after he returned to this nation?
Certainly his conduct after his return is not exactly heroic to many veterans. Consider that in April, 1971 as leader of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Kerry gave a speech to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. In his speech Kerry declared that he and other veterans were in fact war criminals. He also suggested the United States pay economic reparations top the people of Vietnam.

Maybe he'll recommend we do the same to Iraq.

Perhaps most damning is that Kerry also supported the "People's Peace Treaty" which closely followed the desires of the Viet Cong, the very enemy war hero Kerry and his fellow veterans had fought against. And of course Kerry made these comments and supported the enemy position while many American heroes were being held as POW's in Vietnam.

The "peace" treaty Kerry threw his support behind had a key platform that clearly was not in the best interest of America or those POW's. It reads like this. " The Vietnamese pledge that as soon as the U.S. government sets a date for total withdrawal they will enter discussion the release of all American prisoners."

Do we really think a man who would support our enemies positions is fit for the presidency?

I certainly don't.
