Twinkle toes, if you expect people to bend over and kiss your a**, you will have to remove your head first.
There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

When I listen to what is being said around me, when I see parents at odds with their children or brothers at odds with their sisters, when I see friend pitted against friend all in the name of politics it really bothers me. It bothers me how greatly this country is divided. Divided we're weak. We are exactly where bin Laden wanted us to be.
No matter who wins the election on November 2 (I still don't want it to be Bush!), we all need to work together to pull this country together again or it will not survive. I find it funny that we tell our children that there is safety in numbers that it's harder to be attacked in a group of three than it is as one single person. Then as a country, we divide ourselves. Some sit in their homes fearful of the next attack. Some walk out their front doors and don't give it another thought. The one's worrying about the next attack are being pitted against those who refuse to worry. We're not supporting one another. We've become hateful, vindictive, pushy and down right mean.
I don't know how many of you have seen the TV show Charmed. One girl alone cannot fight off the demons. Two can merely hold them at bay, but all three become invincible.
At one time we were the government. The people had the greatest say. When did that change? When did we become so complacent? Where is our will to fight for what we want? We seem to be too willing to accept what the men and women sitting in Washington decide. Is it their country or is it ours?
I had a long talk today with someone at work who became a citizen 2 years ago. He told me things I had forgotten about. How once upon a time, this country was run by the "people". He studied our political history and can't understand where it all went so wrong. He's right. Would it matter if the majority of Americans disagreed with a policy made by any administration now? No, it wouldn't. The ultimate say is no longer ours. It's their's. We have to sit back and accept it.
Wouldyou put the lives of your children, your parents, your siblings and your friends in the hands of a stranger or even trust a stranger with your money? Well, we do. Every single day.
My only hope is that somehow we can pull together again no matter who is elected. This is a great country and we are all Americans. We shouldn't hate each other so much. I hope that after Nov. 2, we can all let bygones be bygones and move on to more productive discussions.
Thanks for listening to the semi-rant!!!

That's a sad thought, Cheryl. I'm hoping that Kerry will be able to turn that thought around. After another four years of Bush, it may become an irrevocable policy.
