The weirdest thing just happened. I was being a good seller and posting feedback for my buyers and came across one who had suddenly had "Private" where the numbers should be.
I read on his feedback page that only he could access his feedback. All I could see were the numbers which weren't too impressive but he paid me with Paypal.
Question is, when did they start doing this? Another, what good is feedback if you can't read it. I have to admit I haven't been to EO for awhile, I've been having enough trouble keeping up with RT.

I came across it the first time back in November, 99. It was a $1.00 item that went for just over $500.00 to a guy with hidden feedback. That worried me at first, but he was very prompt to pay so it worked out! That's the only time I've seen it, but it does seem odd. Kinda defeats the purpose of feedback.

Hey Mybid. How ya doing tonight?
Yes, it does defeat the purpose. I just can't figure out if they are so high on the feedback thing why they would let someone have private feedback AND how the He%% you can do it. Another mystery for us, perhaps?

It looks like from the link info that anyone can feel free to hide their feedback. It wouldn't make much sense to unless he/she had a really nasty remark they were contesting. Even then...?
Oh well, hope you get paid on it as fast as I did on mine.
Did Barry(I saw him around here some place)Barris share his whiskey/scotch, whatever? If not, I'll see what I can find.

The feedback rating is not private, only the specific comments are that, if a person chooses.
Some people feel that who they've done business with is nobody's business but their own.
Nothing wrong with it. There's a few who make their feedback private just to frustrate ebay busybodies, and more who do simply because they can.

Perhaps your buyer is also a seller. Sometimes sellers hide their feedback (and make their auctions private) so that others won't e-mail their bidders with offers for the same or similar products.
You can read the feedback this person has left for others. Sometimes that gives a clue as to why the feedback is private.

Barry(hi there)Barris,
How did I miss that bottle last night? If it's not too late I believe I'll have a glass. I feel very overworked today and believe I am entitled to a little pity party!
