Thank you Antiquary. This mavica camera does a good job on flowers when the light is right! You will notice a few bug chews on my plants leaves, that is because I am totally organic! The only thing I ever use for bugs is soapy water.I don't care if they eat a little bit.

LOL! I usually go organic too, but the temptation to call in the heavy artillery has been strong this year. Every time I go outside, it's like someone has been ringing the damned dinner bell!!

Antiquary, The temptation is great to use the icky stuff! My neighbors think I am crazy as I like to go out after dark with a flashlight and a bucket of soapy water and catch bugs.
They are most likely correct in their opinion although I prefer eccentric!

The night hunt sounds fun.
Tomatoes are doing well this year. Incredible flavor. Have yours started producing yet?

What a great show! I was thinking, of the first, "it looks like a flower from Mars," so I laughed out loud when I saw you actually had a "flying saucer." The "Gooseneck Looserife" is delightful; we have things that look like it, in purple and with smaller heads, at the florist shops now.
Are those actually bubbles hovering above your pond, or am I delusional again?
Thanks, Rawbunzel, they're such a treat. I'm going to look at them all again tomorrow. MORE!

Antiquary, My tomatoes never do well. Our climate is not suited for growing them. I have had a few small ones so far and they are very tasty. My plum tomatoes are covered and should get ripe before it gets rainy again. The early girl has petered out and does not appear to be very early at all! I envy you your tomatoes. The night hunt is fun! I do not care what the neighbors think anyway!
Pareau, I am so glad you are enjoying the flowers! You do see "bubbles" hovering! They are really glass floats [japanese fishing floats]in various sizes and colors that I like to float on the pond. The fish hide under them and they think I can't see them but in reality it makes them look bigger and easier to see!My fish had babies this spring and now I have about fifteen little fish as well as my three big ones! My polly wogs are getting legs!

Thanks for the flowers. My garden is DOA thanks to the drought out here. we finally got rain but it is too late for some of my plants. Even with watering the 100+ degree heat was too much for them.
Rawbunzel; are you sure that first pic was a flower? It looked like an alein landing craft to me.
Is the one you called flying saucer a moonflower. My grandmother used to have a flowering vine in her garden she called a moon flower that would bloom at night. I always wanted one but she often called things by names the nuresery guys never heard of so I'm not sure what the real name is.
The flowers were pure white and almost glowed in the moonlight.

mybiddness, You won't be seeing roses here either [from me anyhow!] All the moisture we get makes them very prone to blackspot and since I never use chemicals mine lose their leaves pretty early on. I do have a recipe for a non-chemical fungicide but it is not quite as good as the chemicals ,especially if I don't use it regularly. My old fashioned roses do the best but they quit blooming a long time ago. I only have 8 rose bushes left. I used to have 30. Have been eliminating the tea roses as they are the worst for disease here. You should post a picture of your roses!
tegan,The Flying Saucer is a morning glory. Not the wild kind. Your grandmothers flower was called a Moon Flower.[at least around here] I have had them and they are gorgeous. Not for years though. It is a night blooming form of morning glory too if I remember correctly [I would have to research to be sure]. Huge flowers! I believe I saw one at the nursery this year when I found my Flying Saucer.I like anything different and I love huge flowers and leaves.
Glad you like my garden.

What fun!!
This is the first time I recall having a thread on gardens.
Except for the flowering bushes, I've been eliminating a lot of my perennial flowering plants the past few years.
I am keeping the lavender and plan to add more to that bed. It's a glorious show when they are in bloom. I like to dry the lavender for display in my home.
I have such a weakness for roses and have added several more plants to that bed, and will add a couple more each year.
That will be my concentration now.
Unfortunately, we have had a lot of wet weather this summer and my roses are not doing well.
I'm also adding more grasses. I like to cut the plumes and display them in the home.
My newest grass is Red Fountain Grass. The foliage is burgundy. The plumes are burgundy/gray and look terrific when bunched in a vase.
Well, that brought out the gab in me. Hope I didn't bore you all.

femme, I like grasses also and have them lining the outside of my fence at the alley where it gets good and hot! They never seem to care!
More pictures!
