Beggars May Need Licenses in Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The police chief wants to license panhandlers, saying it would make it easier for officers to manage aggressive begging in Minnesota's largest city.
Under the plan, panhandlers would have to register each year at a government center and have their picture taken. Anyone failing to wear an ID badge would be jailed for 30 days, and possibly fined.
"The idea is not to penalize people or make them go away," Chief William McManus said Wednesday. "It's just a way to govern how they conduct their business."
Minneapolis already bans panhandling in front of cash machines, bus stops and restrooms.
McManus said he's talked to the City Council about the idea. If a law passed, the city would join a handful of others that license beggars, such as Cincinnati, Dallas and Greensboro, N.C.
Cincinnati's licensing ordinance is being challenged by civil liberties groups that claim begging is protected speech.
Mayor R.T. Rybak said he's not sure he'll support the plan. "I'm interested in looking at innovative ways to handle this, but we need to know more about the details," he said.
Robert Yellow Wolf, a homeless man panhandling on an interstate off-ramp, called the plan "ridiculous," but said: "When you're homeless, you have no say."

Oh brother....[b]their business[b]? Like in they now consider panhandling a legal and approved business? LOL
That's just nuts.
Questions I'd ask of those who think this is a great way to handle this problem:
Will they be required to go through all the required paperword of setting up one's own business? Will they be required to pay Federal and State taxes on their 'business income'? Or is this just an ID given them so stupid people will know the panhandlers are REALLY legally panhandling? LOL

Now, as to the topic. Yup, panhandlers, sucking up your money illegally or legally....just like DICK cheney's company Halliburton....just like the huge corporations with off-shore addresses....just like the ultra-wealthy getting huge tax breaks....don't ya just hate that ?

Well I think we just have to put Crowfarm on ignore and then maybe she will get the hint. Now I am not going to mention the hint but I am sure most know it. Same old crowfarm didn't learn her lesson.
KD so you are wondering out of Canada. How many hours away are you? Don't take the Atlantic City turnoff or you will never get there. You have a great time as there are many sights to see. It will keep you busy all day, but besure you see the vietnam wall and go their around sundown. There are monuments everywhere now. Not much space left in D.C.

Speaking of friends, I wonder how that poor friend of Linda's is bearing up?
Imagine being trapped in the same house with linda with no escape, non-stop lecturing going on hour after hour, shudder..
