A short while ago I read about the so called 'artist' who the Secret Service paid a visit to. His 'art' work was a picture of the American Flag, the words 'Patriot Act', our President with a gun pointing at his head.

And the dems think the republicans are acting nasty?

Then there's this:
DRUDGE REPORT
WED APRIL 27, 2005 18:02:35 ET

AIR AMERICA RADIO INVESTIGATED AFTER BUSH 'GUNSHOTS'

The red-hot rhetoric over Social Security on liberal talkradio network AIR AMERICA has caught the attention of the Secret Service, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Government officials are reviewing a skit which aired on the network Monday evening -- a skit featuring an apparent gunshot warning to the president!

The announcer: "A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn't safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here's your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of 4 gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little bastard. [audio of gun being cocked]."

The audio production at the center of the controversy aired during opening minutes of The Randi Rhodes Show.
"What is with all the killing?" Rhodes said, laughing, after the clip aired.
\

"Even joking about shooting the president is a crime, let alone doing it on national radio... we are taking this very seriously," a government source explained.

White House Spokesman Scott McClellan called the clip "very inappropriate and over the line."

AIR AMERICA President of Programming and co-COO Jon Sinton said in a release: "We regret that a produced comedy bit that was in bad taste slipped through our normal vetting process.

We do acknowledge that it was an internal error and internal discipline will be enforced."

Rhodes apologized for the skit on Wednesday. "It was a bit," Rhodes said. "It was bad. I apologize a thousand times."
---------

And we wonder why our school children are bringing guns to school and shooting others? Just look at the GREAT examples the adults are setting for them with their own actions.

Oh please Linda - how many kids do you know that listen to talk radio? It was extremely tacky but they have acknowledged that fact and appologized. Give them a little credit.

Secret Service is under an investigation of it's own right now for once again playing heavy handed and removing non verbal, non violent, ticket holding citizens from Bush events. Three people in Denver were removed from an event because of a bumper sticker on their car (as in: they parked, went inside and someone hunted them down and removed them). Secret Service claimed that this person was an impersonator or part of the local but not one of their own and yet now the same person(s) has been sighted doing the same thing at two other events across the nation.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Topic is not what the SS is accused of...but rather what the wacko lefties are doing. And children hear the news....and this shameful/disrepectful behavior is happening over and over by the wacho lefties. It's hate speech and it's continuing to hit the news....kids do hear the news....teens do discuss current events in class and might just run across an article or two where this 'hate' speech continues on more and more lately.

The ultra left dems have gone nuts....and people of all ages are hearing it being discussed in their homes.

Sounds like your President lost his sense of humour! He sure thought it was real funny when he pretended he was being electrocuted just before Karla Tucker was executed. No shame or anything there.

Oh, I don't know KD. I think most clear thinking Americans can easily see the difference between a convicted killer and the democrats who are constantly using these 'kill Bush' statements.

yeah right, it slipped through their vetting process, sure it did, lame excuse

Not only could it be a crime, it is in extremely bad taste, even if it is a 'comedy skit'.

Randi Rhodes:
Repeat offender
Radio host who ran bit threatening Bush joked about killing president 1 year ago

Randi Rhodes, the leftist talk-radio host who found herself in hot water yesterday for airing a skit that warned President Bush with gunfire, has joked about assassinating the commander in chief before.

Last May, Rhodes, who hosts a show on the struggling Air America network, imitated the sound of gunfire while saying somebody ought to take the president fishing and then shoot him.

On May 12, New York Daily News columnist Michael Goodwin wrote a piece criticizing Air America, saying he had listened to the liberal radio network one day for 10 hours.

Air America's Randi Rhodes

"The queen of venom, Randi Rhodes, followed [Al] Franken in the host slot," Goodwin wrote. "Her imitation of a cracker military type telling a soldier to 'insert this fluorescent light bulb into that man's buttocks' was revolting. She compared U.S. prisons in Iraq to the 'Nazi gulag' and said, 'The day I say thank you to Rumsfeld is the same day I'll say thank you to the 12 people who raped me.'

Goodwin then notes Rhodes compared Bush and his family to the Corleones in the "Godfather" saga.

A review of the show's recording reveals Rhodes said the following in a discussion with a caller:

"The Fredo of the family is the president of the United States, so why doesn't his father or his brother … take him out for a little fishing, and let him say some Hail Marys – he loves God so much. … You know, Hail Mary, full of grace, God is with thee – pow [gunshot sound] – works for me."

As WorldNetDaily reported, on Monday Rhodes opened her show with an audio skit.

The announcer said: "A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn't safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here's your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of four gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little bastard. [audio of gun being cocked]."

According to the Drudge Report, government sources took the skit "very seriously," though Air America denies there's any federal probe taking place.

Rhodes has since apologized for the joke, saying it was a "stupid bit."

"If the bit was understood to be a threat against the president," Rhodes explained, "I need to apologize to the president of the United States, and I do. I also need to apologize to the Secret Service [which] has a very, very serious job. If they had to take two seconds out of their day to look into me, I apologize for that. ... But where is the apology when they threaten judges from the Senate floor or from the House floor? Or where's the investigation into [WND columnist] Ann Coulter's mouth? ...

"[My apology] is sincere. I feel bad that anybody would feel threatened by comedy. That's one thing, but I also feel bad that it wasn't funny. And I also feel bad that there could be a perception that I would be advocating violence against anybody, let alone the president of the United States of America. It's no secret that I think he's a terrible president, but I don't think that anybody should have violence advocated against them in any way, shape or form ever! ... That [skit] will never see the light of day again. It was bad."

Alan Skorski is writing a book for WND Books about Rhodes' colleague at Air America, Al Franken. In his book, Skorski notes Rhodes' disdain for Bush, saying a promotion for her radio program last summer stated: "The difference between Hitler and Bush is that Hitler was elected."

Air America radio host:
Punish me if I broke law
Rhodes apologizes to Bush, Secret Service for 'gunshots' skit she says was not funny

A liberal radio talk-show host who aired a comedy skit featuring an apparent gunshot warning to President Bush has apologized, and says she's not afraid of being prosecuted over the matter.

"This was just a stupid, stupid bit!" exclaimed Randi Rhodes on yesterday's broadcast on the Air America network. "But, if it crossed the line, then certainly, there must be punishment, and if there is, I want to be punished so that I can actually say 'Equal justice under law.' Anybody that has stepped over this line of law needs to be prosecuted, including me."

I don't for a minute believe that all Republicans are dumb enough to believe Michael Savage or Rush (I need some pills) Limbaugh. Nor do I believe that there are any Democrats who are constantly using these 'kill Bush' statements.

Silly thing to say, if you ask me, Linda

profe - The TRUTH about what is being said....has nothing to do with whether one chooses to believe it. Statements have been made about death to Bush by many wacko's. Choose to ignore them/not believe them....but they can all be found online.

The two I mentioned here are only the tip of the iceberg. Political hate speech is thriving.....and it's mostly coming from the left since 2002.

I don't dispute that. The same is true of any world leader, anytime. Doesn't make it right by a long shot, but it's a fact. Blaming it on Democrats is silly and unfair.

The two I mentioned here are only the tip of the iceberg. Political hate speech is thriving.....and it's mostly coming from the left since 2002.

Political hate speech is a pretty vague description. Nowadays, it's used to describe almost anything said by an angry Bush opponent, even if it's something far milder than the death allusions mentioned here. Ann Coulter's indiscriminate and irresponsible use of the terms "treason" and "slander" could equally be considered political hate speech.

Where would you expect such speech towards Bush to be coming from since 2002, the right???

Irresponsible speech is not defensible whether it comes from Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, or leftist nut cases. Fortunately, these people represent a tiny fraction of the American population. Using them to charaterize an entire political party as you have done is specious and unfair.

MORE SHAMEFUL HATE MONGERING FROM THE RIGHT:

Rush Limbaugh Speaks Ex Cathedra about Neocons

At the basis of Rush Limbaugh's rhetoric is divisive statements. It is reflected in MOST of what he says. Limbaugh likes to use distortion and completely baseless assertions to give the impression that one side is somehow irrational and immoral. In this case, Rush is attempting to portray democrats as racist and mistating the objection sensible people have to the "ideals" and behaviors of "necons".

1/11 : BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

Folks, I'm tired of this word "neocon." Let's get it out on the table. When you hear the word "neocon" used by anybody, it just means Jews, Republican Jews. That's what neocon means. You're going to have people argue with me about it, it may be a larger definition to some people, but the people who use that term pejoratively are talking about not Democrat, not liberal Jews, Republican Jews. Wolfowitz, Kristol, Richard Perle, these are the people that are blamed for getting us all into this, and it's all about... Well, you can take it from there. I don't need to add any more to it.

END TRANSCRIPT

The word "neocon" refers to conservatives who depart from the traditional view of conservatism which holds that we are better off not interfering in general or acting as the world policeman. Neocons are idelogues, not pragmatists. The term necon has nothing to do with the ethnic background of anyone.

The problem that sensible people have with neocons is that they used distortion and lies to get us into a war against a country that did not have WMD's, operational ties to Al-Queda or a military capable of launching a serious invasion of any of its neighbors. Thanks to the efforts of the neocons, we are engaged in an occupation of a country that posed little threat, over 1360 American troops have died, our standing and credibility in the world has been dramatically diminished and we the tax payers are being billed for over 1 billion per week.

Neoncons did things such as establish the Office of Special Plans which packaged assertions from Ahmed Chalabi, who was known to uncredible by the State Department and the CIA, as real vetted intelligence,. The necons took to the air to convince the US that Iraq posed an urgent threat, even though there was no evidence. The neocons were the architects of the Iraq invasion. They planned it poorly. Their "plan" relied on a best case scenario and had no backup. This is the very legitimate gripe people have with the necons. Ethnicity has not one thing to do with it. Rush is also wrong about where the blame should be aportioned. That lies squarely on the shoulders of the president.

Rush could not provide even a single instance where anyone refered to any neocon in a racially pejorative way. In order for what Rush is saying to be true, it would have to be that neocons are all Jewish, or at least the majority. The group "neocons" includes people such as Rumsfeld, Cheney, Woolsey, Ann Coulter, Douglass Feith and more. These are not Jewish people.

Without a shred of logic or factual basis, Rush Limbaugh distorts language in an effort to denigrate an entire group of people as racist for their use a commonly accepted slang term, one often used by republicans. It is amazing how Rush's listeners allow him to continue to insult their intelligence as he so often does.

It's called freedom of speech which is protected by the 1st amendment. These people are doing their patriotic duty and speaking out against the wrongs in this government. It is a good things kids are listening to it. That way they can listen to both sides of what is being said and then can form their own opinions.

And here goes the right again. How long have they used "we have to protect our children" argument. Please, come up with a new excuse and don't bring the children into everything.

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

Bush was right. The truth did come out and the facts are he misled Congress and the American people about the reasons we should go to war in Iraq.
