By T.A. BADGER

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - Defense lawyers sought leniency for Pfc. Lynndie England at a hearing Tuesday to determine her punishment in the Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal, with a psychologist testifying that the reservist was oxygen-deprived at birth, speech impaired and had trouble learning to read.

crowfarm, what does Ms. England's stupid quack defense have to do with republicans loving torture? - Are you supposing her parents who raised her in a trailer park, were die-hard republicans who dropped her on her head on purpose?

I dont know who's wackier, the defense that came up with this garbage, or you for saying:

HERES WHY THE REPUBS LOVE TORTURE.

It's posting the same information twice to get attention is what you are doing. You posted this same thing in another thread right.

I haven't read Bears but it looks like they are all different subjects so it is not the same

Ask John Cain what happened to him in Vietnam. It happens. War is war or can't you understand that. Both sides do it. Al-Qaida is doing it. The insurgents are doing it.

So what you're saying libra, is that the U.S. should act just like terrorists.......dosen't that make the U.S. a terrorist nation....won't we have to go to war against us ?

You're saying that what the terrorists are doing is OK.

So then why are we fighting them ?

Wow crowfarm you are quick on the trigger. Don't you ever take a break. Try playing house once in a while. Take a drive. Get some sleep.

Try being an optimist instead of a pessimist. You will feel better... There has to be something in your life you like.

Thank you for your concern, dble, but I have a crappy, slow, glitchy computer. It does however have a doorbell so I won't part with it.

Judge Throws Out England's Guilty Plea

By T.A. BADGER
FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - A military judge Wednesday threw out Pfc. Lynndie England's guilty plea to prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib, saying that he was not convinced that she knew that her actions were wrong at the time.

Col. James Pohl entered a plea of not guilty for England to a charge of conspiring with Pvt. Charles Graner Jr. to maltreat detainees at the Baghdad-area prison.

The mistrial for England, a 22-year-old reservist who appeared in some of the most notorious photographs from the 2003 abuse scandal, means the case gets kicked back to the military equivalent of a grand-jury proceeding.

The action came after Graner, the reputed ringleader of the abuse, testified at England's sentencing hearing that pictures he took of England holding a naked prisoner on a leash at Abu Ghraib were meant to be used as a legitimate training aid for other guards.

When England pleaded guilty Monday, she told the judge she knew that the pictures were being taken purely for the amusement of the guards.

Pohl said the two statements could not be reconciled.

``You can't have a one-person conspiracy,'' the judge said before he declared a mistrial and dismissed the jury.

Under military law, the judge could formally accept her guilty plea only if he was convinced that she knew at the time that what she was doing was illegal.

By rejecting the plea to the conspiracy charge, Pohl canceled that plea agreement. The military grand jury proceeding, known as an Article 32, had been conditionally waived in this case as long as the plea agreement was in effect.

Graner was called a defense witness on the second day of England's sentencing hearing.

lol! I'll have to remember that one!

Kraft, very interesting. ...that pictures he took of England holding a naked prisoner on a leash at Abu Ghraib were meant to be used as a legitimate training aid for other guards.... I dont know if thats true, but it sounds to me like they've decided they are not going down alone for this and will make statements implicating higher ups were involved. Training materials, huh?

Was England a PFC1 or did she get busted down to one? Well even if she was grade 4, she never could have would have done that stuff if they all werent cohesive that it was right and okay to do. I blame the higher ranking ones there for allowing it and condoning it. But she didnt look like she was forcing a smile, either.
