Did anyone watch it last night? I don't watch CSI usually but watched the season finale last night since I heard that it was directed by Tarantino. The problem is that I missed the first half hour or so which left me a little lost as to why the bad guy kidnapped the CSI agent to begin with and what the tie-in was with the daughter. Can anyone fill me in?

fiset - Nick, the CSI kidnapped agent, was called to a phoney crime scene....by the girls father. Then put in the box. He's the same man who blew himself up.
How the girl in prison relates is it was CSI who used their forensics to get her convicted of her own crime. Remember the styrofoam cup, spilling out coffee to the floor? Her DNA was found to be on that cup by CSI.
I thought it was an EXCELLENT season finale. I was physically suffering myself for Nick the whole time he was in that buried container.
fenix always gives us much better 'reviews' of movies/films. But you'll just have to take mine for now.

Thanks Linda. So the daughter was convicted because of CSI discovering her DNA on the cup and the father set up the whole box thing as some sort of payback for the fact that his daughter was in prison? Any idea why the guy blew himself up?
I've seen a few episodes of CSI over the years and last nights episode was by far the best I've seen. I'm actually surprised they were able to get some of the scenes past network censors (Nick's autopsy scene at the end comes to mind). I love Tarantino's stuff and when I heard he directed this episode, I had to watch. As usual, he didn't disappoint. I won't soon be forgetting the "fire ant" scene.

The father blew himself up as a means to further frustrate the CSI team looking for Nick.
If you listened to what he said before he blew himself up he actually never beleived that they would bring the ransom since it is against departmental policy to "negotiate with terrorists". (Who would figure one of the department members would be the illigitimate daughter of a casino owner ) His intention was to leave the searchers feeling as helpless and frustrated in attempting to free Nick as he he felt attempting to find freedom for his daughter as their one hope (literally) blew up in their face.
Great show.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Makes sense, fenix. Since I missed the first part of the show I was unclear who the guy even was. As I watched the scene between him and William Petersen (very well acted by the two of them, I might add), I thought perhaps someone else was ultimately running the show as the prime suspect in these shows usually doesn't whack himself in the first hour.

CSI is one of my favorite shows. It was a great finale. Also watched the finale of Without a Trace. Another great show. The ending on that one really leaves you hanging until next season!
