My first response would be ..'no way'. And I'm still leaning in that direction.

But you know Ron, I did a little reading on WWII. While I still don't understand to what degree...or if it was as bad then as it is now....many were blaming the President for everything too. Many that's just the way things are. I know it was this way during VN.

He was blamed for not getting us into the war sooner - something other European countries said about us too. Then some blamed him for getting us involved in the war at all. Then there are some who still think he also 'knew' we were going to be attacked by Japan...and did nothing about it.

On top of that...many didn't like the draft. I never even knew there was a draft during that war. I always figured they ALL volunteered.

But where I believe we hear the 'thunder' of the anti-war protestors....our Congress still makes that decision. And just like now....they agreed to go to war...and they're STILL agreeing to fund the war. And the Congress is the one that holds the 'purse strings'. If they don't vote to fund...our troops come home.

Linda_K says, "I did a little reading on WWII" then says "I never even knew there was a draft during that war." LOL

It sure looks like Linda_K did very little reading about World War 2 and has very little knowledge about World War 2.

Linda_K are you ever going to stop trying to BULL ROAR people. YOUR SHAMELESS

I think the definitive word is "culture" With the culture we have here now I don't think so. But back during WWII, boys were leaving high school early so they could defend their country. Parents, friends and the US population were proud of their men and women. They had pride back then. I am not saying the boys and their families don't have pride but the people that are not fighting the war don't have pride. They care nothing about their country and if they did they would stand behind them. They would just as soon turn it over to another country instead of fight for freedom. It would have only been a matter of time and that war would have been here. JMHO

A better, more pertinent question would be could we win WWIII today?

We are winning it, no thanks to the obstructionist libs.

Nothing has fundamentally changed.

The left would lobby, whine and seek to prevent hostilities by capitulating to leaders who can not be satiated.

"Hitler is a man of reason."
"That part of Czech. is really German anyway"

etc. Then the inevitable happens and once you're in it, you use all your powers to end it as quickly as possible. The only problem is that in the meantime a lot more people get killed on both sides.

I see now with the threat of nuclear proliferation to wacko countries, the left is aghast at the missile defense shield because the Russians don't like it or we could spend the money on doggie sweaters for illegal alien's chihuahuas.

The next time you read some lefty columnist suggest "opening a dialog.......", remember 5000 yrs of human history.

And our liberal, northern border neighbor too.

March 11, 2005

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin announced on February 24th that his government had decided not to enter into an agreement with the United States to facilitate broader cooperation in the field of missile defense.

Viewing the issue from the U.S. side of the border, this decision is puzzling because it appears to be self-defeating. Is the Canadian government saying that it does not want Canadians to be defended against missile attack? While Prime Minister's Martin certainly did not state that this was his desire, the question is unavoidable.

Sure why not, all it would take is two or more atomic bombs..... It won a war back then it should work again.

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

President George Bush: "Over time the truth will come out."

President George Bush: "Our people are going to find out the truth, and the truth will say that this intelligence was good intelligence. There's no doubt in my mind."

Bush was right. The truth did come out and the facts are he misled Congress and the American people about the reasons we should go to war in Iraq.
