Last July I switched from earthlink.( I THOUGHT They were bad BUT) So I got DSLEXTREME.
One month of NIGHTMARES with them. Everyday calling them and to NO avail could they FIX any problems. I terminated them.
Well now almost a year later here comes the Collection letters for their $300.00 EARLY termination fees. I know they can bad mouth me in My credit report. I really Don't care. I do have a PERFECT TRW report.
I am thinking State Attorney Generals Office and filing on THEM for Inferior service AND Wondering If in FACT I Can screw up THEIR TRW by filing for lost revenues due to THEIR servce NOT working.
I am thinking tit for tat.
Any ideas? thoughts? recommendations?
I will NOT send them ONE dime for EARLY termination after only ONE month of their Horrible problem filled service..

A $300 early termination fee? And you knew this before signing up with them? Jack, I'm surprised. I would think that by not being able to provide the service you were paying for that they were in violation of the contract. But, what do I know?

They must have had a contract thing, like my cell phone co. I keep signing new 2 year contracts.
You might be able to do something if they did not disclose they had a contract and early termination fees, it was probably there, but in very fine, small print.
It is strange that they would come after you for that after a whole year

First of all I want to say I find no difference when I was using RR to my dial up. What I did have an objection to was when I called tech support (RR) I got someone in Canada and they couldn't help me at all. Since I was having a problem with my computer I kept them for the 6 months but I thought that service was really slow. When I called to complain how slow it was they told me my system was to old. Why didn't they tell me when they hooked it up.
I went back to dial up with tech support 24/7, very knowledgeable personal and dial up time is only about 8 seconds. I can live with that. I have had no outages.
Now what I would do is write the company a letter explaining everything. Do not sound like you are mad. Be a gentleman, tell them just what you told us and see what they say but be sure to tell them that you will report them to what ever entity you report to. I have no idea who that would be. I don't know how you will stop them from billing you? If you call on the phone make a note of it and I would not talk with a customer service rep. I would ask for a supervisor. They should have a record of everytime you called them with a problem and they can tell whether they gave you any help.

If you have a lawyer on retainer go see them. If not write them and explain that under no circumstance will you be paying for substandard service of less than a month. If they did mention reporting your credit report, that may be against the Fair credit reporting act. Can't threaten.
I did this with DirectTV and never hit my credit report. However, mine was done over the phone and was not told of the early termination. Or I would not of signed up.
