(CNSNews.com) -
In a vote of 53 to 45, former Alabama Attorney General William Pryor was confirmed by the Senate Thursday to sit on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Conservatives applauded Pryor's confirmation after more than two years of Democratic filibustering.
"Once again the American people have seen that the Democrats' phony filibustering was nothing more than a politically motivated attempt to keep the majority who wanted to confirm this fine judge from casting their votes," said Concerned Women for America chief counsel Jan LaRue.
"He now takes his rightful place back on the 11th Circuit by official confirmation after having been placed there by a previous recess appointment," said LaRue.
"Hopefully the Democrats have learned that their devious attacks on Judge Pryor's 'deeply held beliefs' were exposed as a mean-spirited attempt to impose an unconstitutional religious test on a public official.
The 'No Judges of Faith Need Apply' mentality should never rear its discriminatory head again in the U.S. Senate," said LaRue.
"Judge Pryor endured two years of partisan filibusters and a barrage of unfair, personal attacks, serving this past year on the appeals court through a recess appointment," said Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.).
"Throughout his distinguished legal career, Judge Pryor has demonstrated a commitment to the rule of law, regardless of his personal beliefs. He deserves praise for comporting himself with dignity throughout this long confirmation ordeal," said Santorum.
Liberals like the Human Rights Campaign strongly condemned Pryor's confirmation.

ohhh, never mind classic. You obviously do not know anything about astrology or the occult! But you better watch out for me now cause I know all about it and I will put a spell on you. You might even get issued a ticket or something too...lol!! So you better be nice to me from now on ... hahahahaha
Libra, lol, ya, you are right - this is mild chit-chat compared to what it usually ends up bottoming-out to. Maybe cf took my advice and went and knocked herself out with a few??
I did not realize it was so late here myself. Busy cropping pictures and stuff.

lol...I think I'm always that way, not just today. And I agree with classic...it's cause I be a WOMAN......HEAR ME ROAR...
But yes, I am THRILLED when the republican's start getting their choices filled especially for the appeal courts. Can't wait for the retirements on the USSC either, hoping one, two or three to open up also within the next three years.
How much are you 'into' astrology? We used to have a poster here that 'read' everyone's charts...long, long thread but interesting to read. My husband was a pisces...a very calm, easy-going man [and quiet person, too ]...and both our sons are scorpio's.

Linda, when I was younger it interested me and I studied it some. I never lived by it, but found much of it to be true in a generalizied sort of way. Now alot of it is plain nonsense too. But there are a handful of astrologers that are really good and can interpret the minutest degrees in your chart. One that I always enjoyed was Debbie Kempton-Smith. She's british and she just has the most biting delightful sense of humor in her writing. If you were ever in the mood to get curious about it and you read her book "secrets from a stargazers notebook", you will laugh your head off, if nothing else. She says things like: such & such with *** in planet **** is horney'er than a three-balled tom cat! (I think she was talking about classic,btw..hahahaha.... )
