When Republicrats don't like the poll results, they blame the number of people surveyed, the make up of the poll and complain about how it doesnt represent the population.

Sorry Linda, I dont think Zogby played a part in this poll.

Bush Poll Not Accurate, GOP Says
By Carolyn Bolls
CNSNews.com Correspondent
June 10, 2005

(CNSNews.com) - A recent poll reveals that only 35 percent of adults believe the United States is on the right track under President Bush's leadership. The media, some say, might have contributed to Bush's low ratings, while others disputed the accuracy of the poll.

The phone poll, conducted by Ipsos for the Associated Press from June 6 through June 8, surveyed 1,001 adults, 854 of which were registered voters. Forty percent of those surveyed said they were Republicans, and 50 percent Democrats. The largest age group, 31 percent, was between the ages of 18-34.

"This is a closely divided nation, and the poll does not accurately reflect that," Danny Diaz, the Republican National Committee's Deputy Communications Director, told Cybercast News Service.

When asked if the media is responsible for the public's opinion of President Bush, Diaz said that it is "difficult to glean any conclusion from a poll that doesn't accurately reflect the demographic makeup in this country."

Charles Jones, a presidential scholar and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, considered the media's coverage of war casualties to be an influence on the public's opinion.

"Iraq news is daily bad news. The election in Iraq helped some, and the formation of the government helped some, but dead bodies trump the more positive news," Jones said.

The poll revealed that 41 percent approve of how Bush is handling the war in Iraq, and 45 percent approve of how he is handling foreign policy and the war on terrorism.

Congress proved to have the highest disapproval rating at 64 percent.

A Gallup survey, also conducted June 6 through June 8, showed a more even split in the public's opinion of Bush - 47 percent of Americans approve and 49 percent disapprove of Bush's job performance.

The Ipsos and Gallup polls both had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

On Friday, a Democratic National Committee press release said that the Republican Party wants to "change the subject" with their "leadership's efforts to distract the American people from their failed record."

Howard Dean, chairman of the DNC, accused the Republican Party on NBC's "Today Show" of trying to "divert attention ... from the issues that really matter."

Josh Earnest, spokesperson for the DNC, told Cybercast News Service that "the polls speak for themselves, and the American public is being heard."

Earnest said that the polls were a fair reflection of the public's opinion of President Bush.

"The problem with Republicans," Earnest said, "is that they are more concerned about what the Democrats are saying rather than what they are doing themselves."

But guess what logan. While you and peepa get off on all these polls....

they were wrong in 1996 when the Republicans took control of the House away from the democratic party.

they were wrong in 2000 with Bush was elected over Gore AND they got more seats.

they were wrong in 2002 when the Republicans got more seats.

they were wrong in 2004 when this President was re-elected.

But you both just keep hoping... I'm not worried about it. The way the dem party is acting now...obstructing everything, offering NO solutions to any of the problems we face...and acting like school-yard children when addressing members of the opposition....with name calling.

I think, if this continues, the Republicans are a shoo-in for 2008 for sure.

I dont really think so. Gore ended up with more popular votes than Bush. The electoral college elected Bush not the American people.

Instead of trying to find a Republican candidate in 2008, the Neocons are worrying if Hillary is going to run.

Plus the American people are beginning to see the Republicans have done nothing in the past 6 years to help this country.

Logans, the new buzz is the gov. of New Mexico for the democrats.

And after the spin on Kerry, (flip-florp flip-flop) what the hellz do you think will happen to Hillary? I dont think she should run. I think she should stay in the senate a little longer. jmo

As far as the name calling: No one on this board made up any of the nicknames mentioned. They've been around for a while.

I'm not concerned at all whether Hillary runs or not. Let her run....the ones who support her to her face will not all vote for her as Commander-in-Chief.

There are alot of more "qualified" and "proven" candidates in the democratic party.

Logansdad I don't really care who runs in 2008. If the party thinks they are knowledgeable and can handle any crisis then let them run.

I don't like the polls where there is no limit to the amount of times someone can vote. I.E. AOL polls come to mind. Since there is no age limit how does anyone know who is voting.

logan - I can't help but laught when you make statements like this:

I dont really think so. Gore ended up with more popular votes than Bush. The electoral college elected Bush not the American people.

The electoral college did huh? You mean just like it has ALWAYS done, thoughout our history? Gee...how unique.

I was really referring to the democratic leaders....like ol' screaming dean....the one who HATES republicans...etc, etc etc.

I think his statements alone will drive moderate and NORMAL voters to the right if he keeps up.

Nice to see you have come around Linda. You used to say the American People elected Bush in 2000.

See you can teach an old dog new tricks. I will mark this down as trick number two since you already know how to sit up and wait for the next command like a good lap dog should.

Did you miss the point, AGAIN, logan?

He was elected in the EXACT same manner in which we have elected ALL our Presidents.

I know some of you are STILL crying over the 2000 election. But I would think that with his RE-ELECTION...you'd might have gotten the hint by now.

I would have thought that with all the anger from the ultra-liberals about the 2000 elections when 2002 rolled around we'd SEE that anger in the dems taking more seats in Congress. But what we saw was the exact opposite. The republican's gained MORE seats.

And of course, the 2004 election results CONFIRMED the wishes of the American voters.

I think you dems and your polls relie too much on people's opinions at the time. Doesn't mean those same complainers actually bother to go VOTE.
