So, I have this friend that also has ADD that went on Strattera a couple months ago and just raves. She's so much more productive, more focused, etc etc, etc. After listening to this for awhile I decided to give it a try. If I ever needed focus I need it now so for the past week or so I have taking it....

This is horrible!! I am losing my mind. It used to be that when the day began there were seven different avenues I needed to travel and I cycled thru them. Gave a little time to each thing before I got bored and moved on but eventually came back to it and eventually got everything finished up. Now the day begins and I see the seven different avenues and my brain sits down in the middle of the intersection and decides to pick flowers for the rest of the day. I lose words and way too frequently have the desire to scream.

I think it's time I dump this junk and go back to racing mind syndrome. Funny how this thing drives some straight up a wall and others are driven there when it goes away.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

Fenix, I'm sure I have it as well. I can never sit still. I can't go to the movies because of it. I'd never want to be any different though. I get so much done in one day, so I'm with you... ditch the pills!!

As the saying goes, one man's drug of choice is another man's poison. Being drunk or sedated is not my preference either.

I agree...dump the junk!

fenix, i've worked in mental health with countless people with ADD. the best recommendation i can give you is to find a physician or mental health professional that most closely reflects your views towards medications and understands how you view meds. some people like myself, prefer not to take meds unless they are of life or death. we find other methods of control, whether it be meditation, exercise, group therapy, friends, and so on. others prefer medication to assist us. it is up to you and the provider to come up with a "plan" that is right for you, and you are most comfortable with.

personally, my biggest problem with medications is the chain reaction. too many people start taking one, and then have to take another to counter act a side affect of the first, and so on... ask as many questions as possible about any medications you take so that you are aware of what you should accept as normal and vice versa, and most importantly ask how long you will be on the meds, what happens if the meds don't work, are the side affects temporary, etc. make a list before you go in and good luck. also, most meds for ADD, OCD, etc. should never be stopped cold turkey. there are very valid reasons for graduating and decreasing meds. large doses suddenly, or removed quickly can cause very serious problems.

Linda must be referring to the White House... "They make up all this garbage they have no proof of either. Just throw a few insults/accusations out...doesn't have to be true....just hope it sticks."

Karl Rove, "Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers. Conservatives, saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."

Linda, Is that what you mean?

Fenix, I think pills can work opposite on some and I agree with others to stop taking them if they make you feel that way. I don't have ADD but I've always been hyper and like Kraft, I love it as I get lots of things done and life is never boring.
