Okay, doesn't it all come down to this..I think this sum's it all up myself.
Might makes right
First, it can describe a morality which dictates that those who are the strongest will rule -- and should rule -- others and have the power to determine right and wrong. In this sense, the phrase manifests itself in a normative sense as a basis for defining a moral code for society to follow, in the works of people like Nietzsche and in notions like social darwinism.
Second, the term can be used in the descriptive, positive way, in the same sense that people say that "History is written by the victors." Since every man labels what he thinks is good for himself as "right," only those who are able to defeat their enemies are the ones who can push their idea of what is right into fruition.
The third, related idea associated with the phrase connotes that a society's view of right and wrong is determined, like its perspective on history, by those currently in power.
"Might makes right" is sometimes expressed as "Mighty is Righty"

President Lincoln said,
"Let us have faith that right makes might; and in that faith let us do our duty as we understand it."

And why the American Voters chose to RE-elect President Bush to four more years. YES!!!

Ah..yes.. but in "Generation Terrorist" and "Guerrilla Warfare" how does one determine "Might" anymore?

To me....it's good vs evil. Those who stand for freedom and liberty for all people, as we [the US] do and those who are like the terrorists....it's going to be their way or death to all.
You'll notice Lincoln didn't say might makes right but rather right makes might.

Yes...I agree..but in that statement..might makes right..that is purely relative isn't it.. for instance..Saddam Hussein had the might over Iraq for 20+ years..and yet we all can agree that although it gave him the right it didn't make it right..there have been bullies throughout who have had the might.. but again it gave them the power to dictate what they perceived as right only.
But I suppose when you are the richest most powerful nation on earth..then it makes your right, right..right?
Got more mowing to do..

Are you ashamed of America maggiemuggins? Because this is the way it sounds.
I for one will not disparage my own country even if we do make mistakes.

No, people who criticize their government are not anti this or anti that or disparaging ....they are the TRUE patriots.
How would we feel if the right to disagree was taken away ?
It's exactly the same thing to say we shouldn't criticize our government as to say we can't.
If "might makes right" then we all better keep a closer eye on China.
Just saying that the U.S. is the most powerful country in the world won't always mean it's true.

You might not believe this, but not all men are married, Maggie.
P.S. Obviously, poor Ron's been into the hooch since noon, so let's all play along and pretend he's scaring us with his threats, and we're shakin' and all that.

You're probably right , Kraftdinner, if Ron had been married a little name calling wouldn't be such big deal for him
Can you imagine him as a soldier? The terrorist runs up to him, shouts, "You dork!", and Ron is reduced to tears.

Washington said "I for one will not disparage my own country even if we do make mistakes."
We all want an American that is held in higher esteem.
We all want an America that is not discredited in many parts of the world.
We all want an America that is more respected.
Guess what Ron, America can start being be that way again when the American people divorce this White House and its LIARS called LEADERS.

That old saying the "Meek will inherit the earth" is not very likely.
It's hardly an "old saying", WEBayer, it's the words of the Lord Jesus hisself, the very word of the living God. From the gospel of Matthew, second Beatitude.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall posses the land.
I guess you figure the word of God is "not very likely".

There was a young man named Drivel
Who thought name-calling uncivil,
He'd threaten, sulk and pout
When somone would shout,
"Won't call names? Well we will!"
