I'm not particularly political, but my cousin, who resides in Texas, mentioned an interesting fact that few of us outside of Texas would know.
According to my cousin, unlike most other states, the power in Texas is not with the Governor, but the Lt. Governor.

femme: Hmmmm.....I don't know about that.
I live in New Mexico, but am 15 minutes away from the Texas border (El Paso) so I spend a lot of time there. I also only get the El Paso news (3 stations....and they do cover New Mexico news from time to time). I get the El Paso Sun Times delivered. So, while I don't live there I feel like I have some idea about the going on in Texas politics.
I think the Lt. Gov. probably does have more of a showing than, say NM's Lt. Gov., but really the buck stops with the Gov.

I live in Texas and your cousin is right. The real power is the Lt. Governor, to get a degree in this state you have to two courses
on Texas history and government.(Or at least in this part of Texas you do)This is one of the points they stress.
Now I never really worried about it until they elected this Yahoo. Can you all say "Wheww",I knew you could.
