Did you see the "ending" of LaFemme Nikita?

Glenda,

Sure did. I'm still recovering.

Scary that this was almost the final episode of La Femme Nikita. But word is out that USA and Warner Bros have committed to film at least 8 more episodes for next season. In fact, today, for the first time, the USA promos for tonight's episodes referred to it as a "season finale," whereas before this week they were calling it simply "the end." So maybe the startling events of tonight will turn out to be just another big headgame.

I don't know how the writers are going to sort out this mess, though.

Yeah, I found out about the "truncated" season 5 after watching the "final" episode.

I think I can tell why each episode costs a million dollars - they've got a different writer for each scene of an episode, and they never communicate with each other!

What was the significance of the knife and his eye, do you know?

I think it was supposed to be tears of blood, to show how deeply he was wounded.

I don't understand why they had to show the last two episodes on the same night.

The voices thread had already been locked by the time I read it, but I thought this was a good place to acknowledge Spaz's comment about the justly-famed thread when godzillatemple announced his plan to attend the next Voices meeting. As he says, it was one of the great threads ever. Riveting drama. A cast of thousands, but the central element was the dramatic confrontation of two masters at the top of their craft, worthy of Caine v Olivier in Sleuth, perhaps even Tracy v March in Inherit the Wind. If you read only one thread this summer ...

You are oh so right. What an awesome thread. Too bad the originator couldn't stand the heat and asked to have it locked.

A classic thread and even more classic pareau. Wow! Impressive pareau.

pareau, you are right - I misinterpreted socrfan2. I was referring to another thread
'How Should the Voices Groups Work?' My comments, however, stand.

The earlier thread was, IMHO, a classic example of a deteriorating thread of that era.

No, cdnbooks, I think socrfan is referring to a thread begun by godzillatemple nearly a year ago. Stockticker included a link to it in RM's other "Voices" thread. It predates my arrival at AW. Here's the link:
http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=57027&id=57027

I scanned some of it--and you're there, cdnbooks! The list of posters reads like a Hall of OAI Infamy. Quite colorful, in their own right. You'll have to dig in yourself to refresh your memory if you've forgotten who said, "KRS, not now, not ever, never! have I had "intercourse" (forget the plural, bubba) with you, nor will that pleasant happenstance ever involve you." A man named Mills moderated.

I don't think it ever wise to go back and read old threads; they sometimes appear quite different. Having done so, however, reminded me that donny has been gone awhile....one of the people that I used to enjoy.

Not much follow through there. Go on to:

krs posted on October 1, 1999 06:02:38 AM

"Well, I suppose that something ought to be said, and Beth has, I'm sure, already left to work so won't be able to do it until this evening.
Don't be alarmed at all that transpired for there has not been a moment of seriousness throughout. Not my statements, or if you prefer the A word, nor Beth's were made to be injurious to either of us. In fact, our friendship has deepened for it.
It was simply theater, a soap opera, or whatever term you prefer for a scripted exchange.
For those of you who are able, I can speak for Beth in saying that we hope you enjoyed our production."

Or did you have some 'nother petty agenda, perauh?

ReLAX, notquiteloverboy, there's no agenda. It just struck me as a pretty funny thing to say online, to anyone. I haven't read the whole thread, but there's probably a bunch more eye-openers like that. I don't think people talk like that to each other here now, even when doing "theater" (and that's how I've always taken a lot of the staging between you two). I think it's cute, just like you do. Nothing more, promise.

Glad you addressed me, anyway, because there's something I've wanted to dig up and haven't been able to find, and I think you said it. It was in a somewhat heated thread, and I think it was in the RT (although it could have been in the MC, or even at AD). You either made a comment, or were the subject of one, that referred to "passing scripts." Ring any bells?

Next time read the thread before you exercize your need to giggle like a fool. That particular episode ended with some rather hurtful and embarrassing reactions by other AW members, particularly felt by Beth, and which caused both of us to offer apologies to the board.

So if you have the time to seek out jollies in indiscrete postings, use it to reread your own.

krs, AT EASE! I haven't yet read the whole thread, but regardless of its outcome, the post I quoted was a freestanding lulu. As for consideration (!) in referring to an old thread, I doubt you can assume I'm going to draw the same conclusions as you have about whatever tack it took, and I'm sure I wouldn't think it as momentous as you do. Besides: According to you, it's all theater, right? I'm just enjoying past performances. No foul, no harm, as they say.

You STILL haven't answered my question about the scripting comment. Come on, krs, the curmudgeon wants another giggle.

Are you deaf, or daft? I've told you, as gently as I would with a moronic child, that there was an amount of painful result to that thread, for many people, which should best be left healed. You had nothing to do with it, are ignorant of the realities of it as evidenced by your having said that any part of it stands alone, and were we not here I would treat you with an expletive phrase which ends in 'off'.

LOL! Too funny, krs. That thread has been cited repeatedly in the past week or so during discussions of the Voices farce, and stockticker posted the URL days ago, which is how I came to access it so readily. If it was so all-out traumatic, the posts would have been edited. I love your timid "off" allusion--it's adorable seeing you on tiptoes around here. Such a cutie you can be!

What I'm really laughing over, tho, are the lengths to which you're avoiding answering my question about "passing scripts." I read your anger about the thread as a bit of a red herring, sugar. Vewwy inneressing, kws. Thanks for confirming what I'd concluded quite awhile ago.

Gee, I thought this was a thread about "La Femme Nikita". Did I miss something?

Spaz, I missed the end of the season episode. But then again, I didn't follow it regularly. Whenever I did catch it, I really enjoyed it, but they have it on so dang late at night here, and I could never remember which nights it was on.

Okay, carry on with the derailing.

Pareau: The thread link I posted was very mild compared to the thread that followed Barry's return from Voices. I remember I was crying when I read the second thread. I felt the pain. It forever affected my opinion of certain posters and is the reason I have never posted on the other boards (except for Kevin's board where I have started to post recently).

Thanks Irene and Katy.

Puriea,
I am not avoiding anything, I simply have no interest in any conversation with you, or hadn't you realized that yet?

No, I'm not confused. One led to the other, brighteyes, and the rehash is not needed, particularly not for your nefarious and supposedly innocent and starry-eyed amusement.

As much as I hate to disagree with Krs, as it usually ends up with a sound thrashing, I have to point out that this statement of his:

You had nothing to do with it

Could, in fact, be false. You never know around here.

I didn't start this thread, but I'm sure as hell going to request that it be locked because it has my name on it and I don't want any part of the ugly emotions being spewed herein.

Glenda, thanks for thinking of me with regard to the show. It was nice to have somebody to talk to about it.

All,

I'm going to lock this thread on request, even though the request didn't come from the originator. It has strayed far from the topic, and has become nothing more than a bickering session about ancient AW history.

If you want to discuss that history, please start another thread. And remember, discuss the subject, please, not the individual.
