So I'm the new kid on the block having just registered a few minutes ago. Allow me to take a few moments to introduce myself. For purposes of this forum, my name is RedStateRising, you can call me Red or whatever suits your fancy. Guess which way I lean politically - ha! I've been lurking around here for a while having found this place through an ebay transaction. When I originally went to sign up it appeared that I would have to purchase some kind of Vendio Plan in order to do so. I had no interest in Vendio services so I never signed up. Some time passed and now that I have a need for some Vendio services, I have finally signed up. So here I am.

I'm familiar with most of you through your posts from the past several months or so. That gives me the advantage of having already formed opinions about most of you. Since it seems that there are only a handful of posters in this forum, it hasn't been hard to get a feel for the lay of the land. While I am new to this forum, I am not new to internet message boards so I pretty much know what to expect.

Since anytime a new person shows his face into an established online community, that person invariably gets accused of being some former member, lets deal with that first, shall we? You all can tell me who I supposedely am in this thread. I will then tell you that you are wrong. You won't believe me. And then we will be off on the right foot.

Oh, and because it can only get worse from here, I extend my hand to all of you now. Greetings. Now who wants pie?

Red

Well obviously, Vendio is in need of some new customers, or at least new advertisers. I hope the pie you bring is blue berry but our good fortune, its probably that stupid artificial raspberry that makes its splat all day long.

Just so I am not er...rude, welcome to the RT

Hello to all of you. dblfugger, I'm partial to French Silk although I now call it Freedom Silk. So can I interest anyone in a big piece of Freedom Silk pie? Libs? C'mon, I know you want some.

Welcome Red, This morning I had a very nice visit with a good friend that is a die hard republican.

We mostly talk about guns but some politics comes into play. I fully respect this mans knowledge about guns he is truly an expert on guns and a huge collector. I also respect many of his views on politics because this fellow is smart enough not to be a parrot for the G.O.P. He doesn't use G.O.P or Karl Roves Key Words.

I am hoping you are a level headed Republican. We need level headed Republicans on this board. Ones that are smart enough to stay away from being a parrot for the far right wing of the republican party.

I am ready to read and try to understand your views. AGAIN WELCOME. Dennis

On second thought, serve up all the pie you want. I look forward to your pie slinging contests at the Libs.

Hello Near, Pi and Peepa.

Peepa, I like to think I'm level-headed but I suppose that depends on one's definition of level-headness. I've read enough of this board to understand what you mean about "far right wing republicans" but it seems to me that what I consider the lunatic left is also quite well represented. To the extent that threads are started and people are engaging in a serious back-and-forth in terms of ideas and suggestions, I have no problem participating in a like manner. However, surely you would admit that very few threads here follow that kind of discourse. Most get down to the personal attacks and name-calling fairly quickly. Again, I have no problem participating in a like-manner. There are lots of message boards and I am a regular on several sites. Nothing that goes on here is particularly shocking and my plan is to jump right in. Given some of your posts that I've seen lately, I suspect you and I will not be on the same side of things very often. But we'll se how it goes.

Hello fenix. While just the thought of key lime pie comes close to triggering my gag reflex, I neverhteless am happy to serve you slice. By the way, I like your style of posting and even though you are more liberal than I, I find your posts well reasoned and interesting. You seem to try to stay out of the muck and just deal with the topics so that probably makes you a better person than me. I kinda enjoy the muck.

No, pithyyellow, Based on this short intoduction I believe that etex is the returning "kid" to the block. As you know so very well, I can tell.

Interesting question, Maggie, but one I'm not sure I understand. What do I have to say good? Meaning what good do I have to say?

Welcome Redstaterising! At first glance, I thought your name was RedStarRising and I thought - this should be good.

Hello Helen. As per my original post, I will now deny being etex. In fact, etex is not a name I recognize from my time as a lurker. And if etex is a Texan, as that name kind of implies, I guess you'd just have to know me to realize how funny that is.

If Redstate means Lonestar means Texas Long Horns. They have great College Football teams in Texas but Stinky Pros.

kraftdinner, when trying to come up with a name for this board, I figured something political in nature would be best. My first thought was RedStormRising after the book by Tom Clancy but I thought the tie-in between "RedStorm and my political affiliation might not be apparent. I then thought about something relating to Ann Coulter because the libs here love her so much. But in the end I settled on a play of words with the Clancy title.

Well, between that and your earlier kind words I have to say that we may disagree frequently but I might just have to like you. You obviously have great taste. Fantastic book, eerily plausible at the time.
