Has anyone had any experiences buying a used car thru eBay or other auction? I am in the market for an El Camino from the 70s or 80s, and have seen what appear to be some beauties at eBay, but cannot bring myself to buy a car sight unseen and without the opportunity to have it checked out by a repair shop.

Would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who has bought a car at auction, and how they satisfied theirself that they were getting what they expected.

Notice how many of the photos are taken in body shop parking lots, or out in unidentifiable empty areas. LOT'S of put together vehicles being sold. Many professional salvage recovery operations selling cars at auction. They move them state to state to dilute the salvage title.

Read feedback if there is any.

Before! ebay motors or whatever it is now, over 1 1/2 years ago, bought a car... cheap! but had to drive to Oregon to pick it up...

But remember that was way before the auto section they have now.

I recomend carfax.com for ANYONE buying a car.

As for the auctions....well, I too would be hesitant to buy a car that I couldnt run by the shop first.

Well the car I won was a fixer. And for under $200 win. It is a '59 Sunbeam Rapier, and its STILL a fixer LOL! was for my brother.... and still waiting on him to fix it, wanted it just for the body and the interior was very good, so all in all it was a good deal. Now though I just glanced at ebay motors.... don't think so...
there's places like imotors.com I think its called.
