Still running on generator power. Checked the web site of my local power company for a update on the outage.
Of the 2800+ Sam Houston Electric Coop customers, I am one of 600 that still don't have power. And they state we may have power by the end of the week.
Sure will be nice to take a hot shower rather than washing down under cold water from a garden hose.

Bear, I haven't been around much so I didn't realize how affected you've been by this storm. I'm so sorry you're without power but at least you're still ok... physically that is.

Them cold showers build character.
Or is it the screaming while under the ice cold water.
Best of luck. I know you'll pull through.
Amen,

You are lucky to have come through the storm so well. The other 599 families might not all have generators...
Hang in there, Bear!

Several of my neighbors do have generators, for which we are all thankful.
One funny thing about the cold water shock screams, the coyotes stop their howling and all the dogs in the area start barking.

Sorry to hear you're still w/o power - I'd go nuts after the first day - just think how good that first hot shower will feel though! Hang in there!

Bear, I'm so happy to read that you and your family survived the hurricane....even if you are struggling without electricity for now.
Happy, thankful days...

Linda, thanks. It can only get better. I saw several electrical utility company trucks in the area while ago. Predictions are for electric service to be restored very soon.

Sounds good Bear. Hopefully by the weekend you can have your electric back.
Did it affect your water at all?

Ron, I've got my own water well, not on city water.
I filled a 55 gal drum with water prior to the outage and thats what i've been using.

Bear, that's a long time to go without power. What have you been doing to kill time after it gets dark? Or should I ask?

As of a few minutes ago, I am now only one of 366 Sam Houston Coop members without service. The nearest residence with power is only 1/2 mile away.
Salvation is on its way............Hopefully power will be back on before I have to venture out to get another 40 gals of gas. Having burned approx $200 worth so far, this is getting expensive.
Walker county has been declared a disaster area, so hopefully I can get at least a partial refund on the gasoline purchases. If not (having kept all my receipts) I'll file with the Texas comptrollers office for a refund on the tax paid on the gas because if was used for off road usage.

Hmmm. A Republican whining about the high cost of gas, and filing for some disaster relief. Sounds like another neocon hypocrite to me.

Coming from the king of hypocrites, thats a complement.
And why shouldn't I request a refund. After all I do pay my taxes unlike the project leeches that claim they are "owed" $2000 FEMA and / or Red Cross debit cards.

bear- you really need to take a good look in the mirror. public assistance is just that. assistance to help the public get through tough times. obviously you are afraid of the truth that you are no different than anyone else in need.

OK Ron.
After only 172 hours with out power, other than from my generator, the lights came back on Friday (9/30) about 9:00 PM.
By 10:00 the hot water was ready and Rusty was disappointed that he didn't get another free show.
Rusty no wonder you're a demoncrat, you don't understand the difference between a rebate & public assistance.
Little wonder you are stumped by anything child-proof.
