I still thought it was beautifully put.

From tonight's episode of Boston Legal (first time I ever watched this show - not bad)

This is from the final summation in a motion to dismiss a womans suit against the army for the death of her brother.

We talk about honoring the troops. How about giving a damn when they are killed. Our kids are dying over there and this country, the people, our media, we all chug along like nothing is wrong. We'll spend a month obsessing about Terri Shiavo but dare we show a body of a fallen soldier. The most watched cable news station will spend an hour a night on a missing girl in Aruba but god forbid we spend any attention when kids like Private Elliot, Killed in action...

Judge - You are off the point.

I am not off the point. We have had 2000 American trees fall in that forest over there and we don't even know it. Not really. But maybe we don't want to know about our children dying. So lucky for us this war isn't really being televised. We are not seeing soldiers dying in the arms of their comrades. Being blown apart on the streets of Baghdad. But they are, by the thousands and all the American public wants to concern itself with is whether Brad and Angelina really are a couple. At least with Vietnam we all watched and we all got angry.=

Judge: What does this have to do with Private Elliott?

Private Elliot is dead in part because we have a people and a government in denial. We currently have no strategy for fighting this war. We have no timetable for getting out. Some of these troops could be extended for 20 plus years. Their mothers and fathers have to spring for body armor because the military doesn't and they are getting killed. And we as a nation in denial are letting them. We simply don't seem to care.

I've watched Law & Order for 15 years.

This really is the first time I have ever watch ed Boston Legal. Not sure why because I love James Spader ( and his brilliant comeback in Secratary). Possible because I can't stand William Shatner. Possibly because I was fearful that the bloating disease that struck both might spead thru the airwaves.

And I don't smoke Camels anymore... It's Marlboro Man.

I used to like James Spader when he was younger. Havent seen him in too much since the last legal show (was it the practice?) but they've overdone the sterotyping with him, and mixed in some other mush that leaves him very unappealing to me (even as the snarkie guy) to watch.

fenix, do you buy your cigerettes online? Marlboro had sent me about 20.00 in coupons (5 off a carton) but I dont have any use for them. When I am smoking I buy the generics or whatever 2-fers they have.

No - I generally buy them across the border. Depending on where, they cost me between $1.50 and $2 a pack.

If you get a chance, check out Secretary. It's off beat and deals with somewhat risque issues but a great movie. Definately rescued Spader from obscurity. The perfect role for his rather unique style.
