The lefties like to portray Neo-Cons as the ultimate evil in the world. What is a Neo-Con? Neo means new and Con stands for Conservative. So a Neo-Con is a new Conservative. Right? Well almost.
.
A Neo-Con is a former Democrat who has defected to the Republican Party. These people are more or less in favor of a strong national defense and big government.
But this leaves a question. If a Neo-Con is a former Democrat, are there any Neo-Libs? I haven’t heard of any. And why do you think that is? Because no one becomes a Liberal from being a Conservative. And why is that? Because Conservatives are the actual thinkers. Once you begin to think for yourself you are less likely to return to being a liberal lemming.
And this is what has the DNC up in arms. Younger and younger people are becoming Conservative. More and more children are emerging from high school Republicans. And I’m in heaven.
Every time I read something written by a high school or college student with a Conservative view point, I gain more hope for the future.
So I must say to Howard Dean - THANK YOU. You are single handedly alienating enough of your traditional base that we are almost guaranteed total victory in the end.

Whoever this blogger is, he's obviously not read "Blinded by the Right : The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative" by David Brock. Brock was the author of much of the anti-Clinton lies that were made up and sold to the American public as fact. He was in fact the author of many of the ones that are still being used by the Clinton haters on this board. His book is a personal account of his days serving as a journalistic liar for the right, and his eventual conversion.

Prof, guess the book needs to be rewritten. Especially since Dean is a prime example of the leadership the dems have to offer.
I gave my liberal neighbors son a book for his birthday. He went crazy trying to find where to put the batteries.

Ok so the cat is out of the bag and i'll be the first to admit it.....Monica Lewinski really didn't give President Clinton a blowjob in the oval office. He was really at his desk whacking off. Monica walked by smoking a cigar, slipped and fell on it and got her blue dress dirty.

Neo Conservatives are not liberals that have become conservative, they are the new breed of conservatives that have left the old edicts behind and have now entwined their religion into their politics and promote smaller government only when it denies help to those in need but lobby for greater controls where it comes to the legislation of personal morality.
Those that have become disenchanted with this new style of politics did not invent a new name for themselves because there not one needed. Their beliefs did not change, only the parameters of the existing terms.
They are now better known as "Moderates".

According to wiko-pedia, neo conservatives are comprised of many ex-liberals democrats, etc. They are also more tolerant of govt social spending programs than traditional conservatives. So Fenix's definition is the tug-boat media hype of course.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoconservatism_(United_States)#Kristol.27s_famous_definition
Historically, neoconservatives supported a militant anticommunism, tolerated more social welfare spending than was sometimes acceptable to libertarians and mainstream conservatives, supported civil equality for blacks and other minorities, and sympathized with a non-traditional foreign policy agenda that was less deferential to traditional conceptions of diplomacy and international law and less inclined to compromise principles even if that meant unilateral action. Indeed, domestic policy does not define neoconservatism — it is a movement founded on, and perpetuated by an aggressive approach to foreign policy, free trade, opposition to communism during the Cold War, support for beleaguered liberal democracies such as Israel and Taiwan and opposition to Middle Eastern and other states that are perceived to support terrorism. Broadly sympathetic to Woodrow Wilson's idealistic goals to spread American ideals of government, economics, and culture abroad, they grew to reject his reliance on international organizations and treaties to accomplish these objectives.
Compared to other U.S. conservatives, neoconservatives may be characterized by an aggressive moralist stance on foreign policy, a lesser social conservatism, and weaker dedication to a policy of minimal government, and, in the past, a greater acceptance of the welfare state, though none of these qualities are necessarily requisite.

Great book , profe, but you won't catch a neocon reading anything that might not fall into line with their cemented ideas....neocons do NOT want to learn anything...hey! That's a good definition!
