HI, I have been approached several times to post items on the auctions for others. Those with no computer or other necessary equipment. I had been doing it for a favor, just for family. Now I am realizing there is a market out there for this type of service...... My problem is I don't know what to charge. I feel it shouldn't all be the same price..... If I write the description, take and up load the pictures and contact the buyer etc. I Should charge more than if they provide the picture and description...... Does anyone have any experience in this? I have heard people charge any where from 25 to 40%..... but I am not able to find another's price list any where....... any advance would be appreciated!!!

I've been listing for two other people for over a year, who are ridding themselves of small estates they've inherited. As a rule, I only take items small enough to use my scanner with, as I don't have a digital camera and don't want to incur any added expense for the pictures. I also write the descriptions for one of them, and the other person writes her own. I charge a flat 40% fee, and I pay all expenses involved in the sale. It's been enjoyable for me, as I've dealt with some amazing things that I most probably would never have had contact with otherwise. I've expanded my base of knowledge of many things from the past, as I've been forced to the library over and over to do a bit of research. So, I think I've gained from two perspectives: a nice commission with very little effort, and a little more knowledge about a lot more things! Also, they both agreed not to be antsy about time, as I list their things around my own. It can work!
