As of today it's been 30 days since i've had a cigarrette and i feel great. The cravings to smoke are almost completely gone. About the only time that i feel like having a cigarrette is in the morning when i have a cup of coffee but that only lasts until the cup is empty.
NTS, did you ever try those nicotine inhalers that you talked about getting to try to quit? The nicotine nasal spray that i had gotten sure did the trick for me and when that ran out i bought some nicotine gum and i'm about to quit that too. I've been slowly weaning myself off of it and i expect to be able to quit that in a week or so.
Never again will i ever start smoking. What an insidiously addictive and disgusting habit it is. Now whenever i even smell a cigarrette it stinks like burning garbage.

Congrats Pi - my cravings are the opposite of yours. Hate smoking in the morning, don't really smoke much during the day but come nightfall I'm a craving fiend.

To anyone that's thinking about quiting, it can be done and yes i did gain a little weight but the good thing is that my energy level has gone up tremendously and i'll be back down to my normal weight in no time. I'm sleeping alot better now too.
Classic, the nicotine nasal spray that i had gotten was prescription only and it was kinda pricey, $135 for 4 bottles and it lasted about 3 weeks.
Anyone else that wants to quit, i'll give you all the encouragement that i can and i don't care what political side you're on.
There's some other things that you have to do to quit, as i see it, like to not hang around with others that smoke for at least a couple of weeks, stop doing the things that trigger your craving response like coffee drinking. I quit the coffee for 3 weeks but am now able to drink it again without a very strong craving. I suggest that if you drink alchohol, to quit that temporarilly because it seems like in that sort of a weakened state that it would be too easy to just go ahead and smoke, especially if you are socially drinking with friends at a smoke filled bar.
Good luck to all of you that are still suffering with the addiction. Let me know if i can help you quit.

Pi! This is GREAT! 30 days! wow, you should be proud! If you've gone this long, you surely are done with smoking!
No, I didn't get the inhaler.... yet!
I really really should. Now I have to go outside, the baby being here and all.
I don't think I could do a nicotine nasal spray.
I really want to quit, and I should! I read somewhere that quitting smoking is like trying to quit heroin.

Congrats PI! Way to go! I'm thankful every day that I never smoked. I have lost family members to lung cancer. Keep up the good work! Maggie

Thank you one and all for your kind words of congrats and encouragement.
When i finally decided to take the plunge and do it, i wrote and printed several copies of this on my puter and hung them around the house and put one in my car, as a reminder to myself as to why i wanted/needed to quit.
SMOKING DOES NOT MAKE ME FEEL GOOD!
THAT FIRST CIGARRETTE IS A MISTAKE!
MY LUNGS HURT WHEN I SMOKE!
I’M OUT OF BREATH WHENEVER I SMOKE!
I’M OUT OF ENERGY WHENEVER I SMOKE!
MY HEART PALPITATES WHENEVER I SMOKE!
SMOKING WILL KILL ME!
I posted this before and so i'll post it again for those that didn't see it before. It tells the truth about what chemicals are really in that cigarrette when you light up. It was part of my motivation to finally get 'er done and quit.
Cigarettes are Poisonous.
This is not the drone of someone trying to tell you what to do with your life, it is a fact. Just
because they are sold in stores doesn't mean they're ok. And sure, they make you look bad when
you smoke them, because it is bad to smoke them. Bad like a rotten, moldy sandwich in the
bottom of the refrigerator, or literally like oven cleaner on your Frosted Flakes.
The only ones who are really bad are the corporation executives in their yachts, laughing at
you while you get cancer, and make them rich.
There are over 4000 chemicals in cigarettes. Some that you may recognize are:
Acetic Acid (vinegar), Acetone (nail polish remover), Ammonia (floor/toilet cleaner)
Arsenic (rat poison), Butane (cigarette lighter fluid), Cadmium (rechargeable batteries)
Carbon Monoxide (car exhaust fumes), DDT/Deildrin (insecticides, Ethanol (alcohol)
Formaldehyde (preservation of body, tissue and fabric), Hexamine (barbecue lighter)
Hydrogen Cyanide (gas chamber poison), Methane (swamp gas), Methanol (rocket fuel)
Napthalene (mothballs), Nicotine (insecticide/addictive drug)
Nitrobenzene (gasoline additive), Nitrous Oxide Phenols (disinfectant)
Stearic Acid (candle wax), Toluene (industrial solvent), Vinyl Chloride (makes PVC)

No offense, but I'm not impressed. Quitting smoking can't be that hard. My grandmother quit at least 20 times.
