My father in law was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma a couple of weeks ago and is now in a coma. He was the Fire Chief where he lives and was healthy and lively only a few weeks ago. The doctors say he might have 24 hours. I've tried to keep my mind off things by posting here and there, so forgive me if my posts have been stupid.

All I want to say, is stuff can happen sooo fast, so enjoy what you have while you have it. Take care everyone.

kraft, I am so sorry to hear about your FIL.
I'm sure you and your family are going through a lot right now.

And yes, things can happen fast. Your right about enjoying what you have now.

I haven't read all your posts, but I doubt they are stupid

You have my prayers, KD as well as the rest of my family's (we remember the prayers for Ryan). Passed this along to my brother who is going to do a prayer circle at church for your father-in-law.

I've always thought that prayer was some kind of a plea to God to not let something happen, or to have something happen, or to pray to the glorification of God. All of that is what i don't believe in but a thought about someone is just a thought and my post to Kraft was to let her know that she's in my thoughts and i am hoping that it all turns out the best way possible, under the circustances that is.

, PI. Well, there is a line of thought that your true God-self is all about your conscious awareness of your thoughts and daily attitudes, from which all of your true reality flows. But to tap into that, you cannot still indulge in the material or flesh related desires.

I really dont know why kraft would make a thread called prayers and/or seek intervention from a higher power when she's made her opinion about it very clear many times. So I figure then it must be this new age'ie type conception. but even trying to manifest that, you have to let certain attitudes go.

'splaned myself for you Rickie?

I also found it odd that she'd ask for prayers rather than just positive thoughts....as you say because of all her previous posts being so anti-organized-Church related.

But many turn to God for help/healing when the going gets tough who never prayed or never believed until that point presented itself.

I do send positive thoughts in her FIL's direction.

Thank you, Loosie for splaining that for me. now go cook me up some bacon and some beans and then put another log on the fire.

So, i guess i was correct that prayer and thoughts are two different things. Prayer is a plea to a higher power, while a thought is just a thought, right?

I think there is a big difference between believing in prayer and believing in organized churches. Just because one does not believe in religion does not mean that they cannot believe in god or a higher power.

Sure, you can believe in God or a higher power and not believe in organized religion but then someone will come along and slap a label on you, as if you belong in with a group of people with the same way of thinking, or similar, like it is some sort of a religion. I believe that you just have to ignore those labels and believe the way that you want. Likewise, those that choose to put labels on their own beliefs should not be critisized for it, as long as they don't hurt others in the name or belief of their chosen label.

That's very true, fenix. KD herself has said she believes in God....but when asked which religion's 'God' she learned about...came to believe....she would never answer. And I asked her several times. Almost each time she make some anti-religion statement.

If you believe in a 'God'....then certainly that belief didn't just come out of the air. Just as some people don't believe in a 'God' but rather a higher power of some sort...as you mentioned.

KD said she believed in God.

Thanks soooo much for your prayers everyone. He has taken a turn for the better and has come out of the coma. They are going to try to operate if he stays lucid. It might only give him another 6 months if he comes through the operation but he was at death's door on Saturday. I feel so blessed. Thank-you!

Linda, you are such a fibber about my religion. Fenix is correct. You don't have to believe in organized religion to have a belief system - what a silly thing to say.

Great post, Pi.

I first learned about god from Martin Sheen.

I didn't go to church to church and neither of my parents were religious so there were no god discussions in my house. What I knew early on I learned from a Sunday morning series that used to play out various dramas with a religious theme and message. Martin Sheen was either in a bunch of them or in a couple that they reran alot.

KD - Glad to hear his chances have improved.

But to again say you believe in God....then answer me 'whose God? A person just doesn't make up a God and say they believe in him/her. It has to come from somewhere....not just out of the sky.

And you have been very critical of Christian beliefs in your past posts....so...I'll ask again....what God are you praying to....what God are your prayers directed to?
