RE: Christmas Party

I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks!

We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...please feel free to sing along.

And don't be surprised if the Managing Director shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1.00p.m.

Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets.

This gathering is only for employees! The Managing Director will make a special announcement at the Party.

Merry Christmas to you and your Family.

Pauline

RE: Holiday Party

In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we’re calling it our 'Holiday Party.' The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians. There will be no Christmas tree or Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment.

Happy now?

Happy Holidays to you and your family,

Pauline.

RE: Holiday Party

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table...you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only," you wouldn't be anonymous anymore!!!! How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody?

Forget about the gift exchange, no gift exchange allowed now since the Union Officials feel that $10.00 is too much money and Management believe $10.00 is a little cheap.

NO GIFT EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.

Pauline.

RE: Holiday Party

What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs, perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party - or else package everything up for you to take home in a little foil doggy bag. Will that work?

Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the toilets, Gays are allowed to sit with each other, Lesbians do not have to sit with gay men, each will have their own table.

Yes, there will be flower arrangements for the gay men's table, too.

To the person asking permission to cross dress - no cross dressing allowed.

We will have booster seats for short people. Low fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food. We suggest those people with high blood pressure taste the food first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply "No Sugar" desserts. Sorry!

Did I miss anything?!?!?!?!?!

RE: The ******** Holiday Party.

Vegetarian pricks I've had it with you people!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death", as you so quaintly put it. You'll get your f****** salad bar, including organic tomatoes, but you know tomatoes have feeling, too. They scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right NOW!!

Hope you all have a rotten holiday * drink, drive, and die!

The #*!@ from HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Pauline Lewis and Holiday Party

I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Pauline Lewis a speedy recovery, and I'll continue to forward your cards to her.

In the meantime, Management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and instead, give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd December off with full pay.

My response to that? "OK!!" A day off with pay two days before Christmas sounds good to me! Personally, I never got into office Christmas parties. We do a lunch. One of my business partners is Jewish and he gives out Christmas gifts. If you ask most Jews, Muslims, and other ethnic groups, they'll tell you this is much ado about nothing. I really doubt most of them care whether it's called a holiday party or a Christmas party. The hype comes from the minority that do object and the media that likes to blow it all out of proportion.

Our Christmas cards at work say "Happy Holidays" so that we don't exclude anyone. However, on the front is pictured a Christmas tree with all the Christmas decorations. It would be ridiculous to go out and buy cards that cover every faith. Since our clients are our bread and butter and they are of all faiths, the Happy Holidays cards were the most appropriate.

BTW, this "Holiday Party" thing is nothing new. Back in 1995 when working for 5/3 Bank, we hired a Muslim employee. It was that year that the bank stopped calling it a Christmas Party - 10 years ago. This is not a new issue.

ROFLOL - Now she's taken her OWN poll of all jews, all muslims and other ethnic groups....and gives us HER findings.

Get real cheryl, skylark. It's the atheists, non-secular of all cultures/races and the ACLU who are trying to remove Christmas...God...from everything....and make it more 'Holiday' specific.

linda who stopped YOU from putting the nativity scene on your front yard ?
Follow along, linda, just like ignoring the constitution...did it happen to YOU???

Where or when did anyone stop you from saying Merry Christmas ??

Did anyone stop you from putting up a tree and decorating it?

Did anyone stop you from singing carols?

Did anyone stop you from going to church?

When did someone stop you from standing on the corner with a bushel of mistletoe over your head ?

C'mon, give us some examples !!!!

You say:" It's the atheists, non-secular of all cultures/races and the ACLU who are trying to remove Christmas...God...from everything....and make it more 'Holiday' specific. ""

Wasn't it the Christians that wanted to ban Halloween for what it represented. Didn't they want to have "Autumn Festivals" instead? Now that the shoe is on the other foot who is screaming the loudest? That's right it is the Christian fudamentalists.

The way the majority of American sees it, it is the Christians who are making the biggest beef about it. Why are you forcing your beliefs on those that do not believe in religion or your "God". So the retailers are not saying "Merry Christmas", big deal. Is it preventing you from wishing someone a "Merry Christmas"? Would you be offended if someone came up to you and wished you Happy Hanukah instead. There are other religious holidays at this time of year, why does it have to be the Christian faith that has to have their religion broadcast as the official holiday slogan?

I know it is difficult for the Christians to be tolerant of any one else's belief. After all they are the superior ones who know everything about God and the Bible.

Curtesy of Rep. Dingell (D-MI):

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the House
No bills were passed ‘bout which Fox News could grouse;

Tax cuts for the wealthy were passed with great cheer,
So vacations in St. Barts soon would be near;

Katrina kids were nestled all snug in motel beds,
While visions of school and home danced in their heads;

In Iraq our soldiers needed supplies and a plan,
Plus nuclear weapons were being built in Iran;

Gas prices shot up, consumer confidence fell;
Americans feared we were on a fast track to…well…

Wait--- we need a distraction--- something divisive and wily;
A fabrication straight from the mouth of O’Reilly

We can pretend that Christmas is under attack
Hold a vote to save it--- then pat ourselves on the back;

Silent Night, First Noel, Away in the Manger
Wake up Congress, they’re in no danger!

This time of year we see Christmas every where we go,
From churches, to homes, to schools, and yes…even Costco;

What we have is an attempt to divide and destroy,
When this is the season to unite us with joy

At Christmas time we’re taught to unite,
We don’t need a made-up reason to fight

So on O’Reilly, on Hannity, on Coulter, and those right wing blogs;
You should just sit back, relax…have a few egg nogs!

‘Tis the holiday season: enjoy it a pinch
With all our real problems, do we honestly need another Grinch?

So to my friends and my colleagues I say with delight,
A merry Christmas to all, and to Bill O’Reilly…Happy Holidays.
