Do you tip your mail carriers, news paper carrier, cleaning people etc?
I usually give my mail carriers and paper carrier a 25.00 Christmas tip because I live out in the country and I know them on a first name basis. Also, I get a ton of things delivered over the year that they haul out here.. On the other hand they just honk the horn at the end of my drive for me to go out and collect the parcels and don't bring them to the door.
I'm wondering if you all tip for these services too?

Well, I don't "do" Christmas but along about January I give my mail carrier a little "thank you" gift....he used to drive up my long drive way to deliver anything that didn't fit in the mailbox...I kinda miss him now that I got a BIG mailbox just for him.
The "cleaning people" ...???....I ARE the cleaning people...and yes, I give the "cleaning people" lovely gifts all year long

i've never figured that one out... tipping a postal carrier??? it is a job. i don't tip the road repair crew, or the pilot who flies me across the country safely, or the contractor who repairs a roof, etc.
They all generally do a professional job, some riskier than others. Why should we tip a postal carrier? They make great salaries, have excellent benefits, and great job security. i can think of many people across this country who should get tips, and postal carriers are definately not one of them. Save those tips, give them a card or a small gift, and donate the money saved from those tips to a charity or buy some extra toys during the holidays to give to needy children. trust me... there are plenty of kids during the holidays that still go without, even with the monsterous toy drives.
i know when i delivered papers as a kid, i usually got a few extra bucks from my customers during the holidays. it was funny though, because my route crossed a fairly interesting group of people, from upper middle class to some who were dirt poor living in a small cottage. I always got the best tips from two families. One was probably the wealthiest of my route, the other was from the poorest on the route.

Yes I do. I take care of my Garbage Collector/Recycle Guys, the Postal Carrier, my UPS Guy, the paper carrier, the clerks at my PO branch, my gardener, the guy who maintains my pool and spa plus a few others that escape me.

Living out in the country, our mail carriers are independent contractors, they drive their own vehicles and are paid by the mile if I'm not mistaken. I don't know what kind of salary they make. They are sometimes the only people I see out here in a day. So, I like to give them a tip at Christmas. I don't know my trash collectors by first name, but the clerks at my local PO do get gifts and of course the paper carrier. I suppose it would be different if I lived in a city where things are less personal.
