North Dakota News
This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of
North Dakota state after the recent snow storm.

WEATHER BULLETIN

Up here in the Northern Plains we just recovered from a historic event -
may I even say a \"Weather Event\" of \"Biblical Proportions\" - with a
historic blizzard of up to 44\" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that
broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of
motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of
communities and cut power to ten\'s of thousands.

FYI:
* George Bush did not come....
* FEMA did nothing....
* No one howled for the government...
* No one blamed the government
* No one even uttered an expletive on TV...
* Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.
* Our mayors did not blame Bush or anyone else.
* Our governor did not blame Bush or anyone else either.
* CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC did not visit - or report on this category
5 snow storm.
* Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.....
* No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House....
* No one looted....
* Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something
* Nobody expected the government to do anything either
* No Larry King, no Bill O\'Reilly, no Oprah, no Chris Mathews and no
Geraldo Rivera
* No Shaun Penn, no Barbara Striesand, no Hollywood types to be found
* Nope, we just melted the snow for water
* Sent out caravans of SUV\'s to pluck people out of snow-engulfed cars
* The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn\'t ask for a
penny
* Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments
delivered it to the snow-bound families
* Families took in the stranded people - total strangers
* We Fired up wood stoves
* Broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns
* We put on an extra layers of clothes because up here it is \"Work or
Die\"
* We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out
of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that
trades votes for \'sittin at home\' checks.
* Even though a Category \"5\" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this
early...we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

\"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 48
degrees North Latitude, 90% of most of the world\'s social problems
evaporate.\"

Amen,
Reverend Colin

In fact, North Dakota did "howl for the government". Below you'll find a link to the Governor's official request to the President for Federal disaster aid. With no aid forthcoming, North Dakota is presently suing the Fed to recoup it's losses.

Apparently they were successful in getting this response.

For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
January 4, 2006

Statement on Federal Disaster Assistance for North Dakota

The President today declared a major disaster exists in the State of North Dakota and ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the area struck by a severe winter storm from November 27-30, 2005.

Federal funding is available to State and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe winter storm in the counties of Cass, Ransom, Richland, and Sargent.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

R. David Paulison, Acting Director, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security, named Thomas J. Costello as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected area.

The Agency said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the State and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: FEMA (202) 646-4600.

all don't drink

all don't use drugs

all give money to their Church

all support the war

You'd think the truth would be weird enough that those people who make up these forwarded emails would have plenty to send around without having to make stuff up. Mercy, it's almost like they have an agenda or something....

Or more apropriately...

Not a conservative...since every bit of progress the human race has ever achieved has been initiated by progressive thinkers, with conservatives dragged kicking and screaming along.

Don't have a job...OK, that's no good.

Aren't married...Marriage is for married people - well, almost half of them anyway.

Don't have 2.3 children...Fractional children are much more trouble than they are worth.

You drink/use drugs...Blood of christ and aspirin. Can't go wrong with that, can you?

Don't give money to the church...Good, they've got enough of it. You don't see a whole lot of churches closing down. There is always a guilty enough conscience out there to trick out of hard earned money.

Don't support the war...The war is a joke, most people finally realize that.

Are in a gay marriage...OK, that is a little weird.

Collect welfare...Not nearly as much as the major corporations collect.

Collect food stamps...Poor people should at least be able to eat, shouldn't they?

So who's the scumbag?

By my tally it's 8-2, you lose. Valiant effort though.

Not in support of Peepa necessarily, but I'd say that's pretty much true. And I'm a conservative.
