Loosecannon--wanna go!! where is it?
edited to add seeing Iron Butterfly a bit long in the tooth doing Innagadadivida--would be the price of admission alone. For some strange reason--believe rare earth did I'm Loosing You--but like Faces rendition better.

Loosecannon, If I come...and you party like it's 1969, I will be 4 years old and will have to go to bed at 7:30pm. I will be a drag.

loosecannon,
The original members of Rare Earth were Gil Bridges, Pete Rivera, John Parrish, Rod Richards and Kenny James. In the early 70's Ray Monette replaced Rod Richards and within a year or so Rivera, Parrish and James left the group to have their places taken by Pete Hoorelbeke, Mike Urso and Ed Cuzman.
I'm not sure who's left now.
Iron Butterfly had a chequered passage, drifting in and out of popularity. They really hit big time with their second album In A Gadda Da Vidda. Haven't heard much of them since.
Sugar Loaf I'm not familiar with at all.
Have fun at the concert. It'll be good to know if they can still belt it out!
Bob, Downunder but never down.

How fun! Dont forget to take the tie dye blanket for you to sit on. Remeber Vanilla Fudge? Blue Cheer? Once in awhile, I still finding myself tapping out Innagadidivida (sp?) with my pencil on the desk, lol.

That's OK jeanyu
Too short of notice, plus it would be so expensive to fly on short notice as well. Maybe they are coming to or near Pittsburg though? I'll try to find out.
Thanks guys. I remember all those songs you mentioned and now I know what to expect.
Meya, I think I've heard of Trapeze, but I'm not familiar with them.

I wanted to tell you all about the concert.
First, I was mistaken about all three of these bands being there. There were members of all three bands there in one group (it clearly said this on the tickets which I only glanced at before). But they did not disappoint! These guys were hot. Excellent professionals--master musicians. They put on a great show even though the large arena had only 300 to 400 in the audience.
These guys are not too old to rock! They put on a spirited, energy filled show.
They call themselves "The Classic Rock All Stars" and they are:
Mike Pinera, guitar/vocals, of Iron Butterfly and Blues Image
Jerry Corbetta, keyboards/vocals of Sugarloaf
Peter Rivera, drums/vocals of Rare Earth, and last but not least...
Dennis Noda, bass guitar/vocals, of Cannibal & The Headhunters (they had a big hit with "Land of 1000 Dances" in the 60's).
We got to hang around after the show for a bit to get some CD's and photos and they autographed them for us.
One thing...I was wondering why there were so many old folks there. No offense, but there were quite a few of the over 60 crowd. Then it hit me. They were only 25 or 30 years old back then. Time goes by quickly.

I hadn’t looked at this thread until today. I like all kinds of music but I’m really not into “oldies”, so I just skipped over this. However, I don’t consider this “oldies” at all. Why, it seems like only yesterday...
Meya
I just recently purchased the Trapeze – Medusa CD. It is great! Brought back some great memories. It is always amazing when you hear music that you have not heard for a couple of decades and what wonderful feelings and memories it produces.
I really like the Metamorphosis album by Iron Butterfly. Great tunes.

Loosecannon, sounded like a concert of the best of the best. What a treat for you--and with so few people--the whole thing can become so intimate--ya know?
BTW, I tease my honey that Kiss will return and start a full fledged tour of nursing homes in about 15 years. Full makeup--floating stage--but Gene will be blowing out a Bic and Ace's guitar will have a sparkler attached to it for his solo. Paul will still be in Spandex (parish the thought) and Peter will lip sych "Beth" cause he just can't quite remember the words.
Just a fast OT--watched the MTV awards last night and finally finally realized that YES--I am middle aged. Only recognized a handful of performers and what a surprise Nellie were. All through their song--just wanted to jump into the TV, onto the stage and pull that boy's pants up.
Where oh where is rock and roll headed? Cripes--the ramifications of middle age have never been harder to handle than last night.
