For you fans of this show, seems like it is going away.

I like the show, but just from the way this years plot has been going it seemed like would have most likely had to have been the end anyway. In real life how many of those characters would have been relevant to a different administration anyway?

That plus the fact the MY favorite character is pretty much guaranteed not to have shown up next year anyway. Unless the White House was going to have seance that is.

I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. NBC tanked the show when they moved it to Sunday, gave it little advertising and then took it off the air for a month of holiday specials. ONce you then realize it goes off for another month for the olympics there was no hope of it having successful ratings this year.

Of course the death of John Spencer was probably also a big factor. Without Sheen and Spencer I just don't see the show being what it was. I am wondering how they deal with his death in the story line however, or if they will since he may already have those shows in the can. Would be interesting however to see how the death of a vice presidential candidate elect is handled.

Doc - there have been some rumors that Wells would bring Sorkin back to write the episode where they deal with Leos passing. Probably too much to hope that he would come back to do the last episode but one can dream.... maybe they can just have the new Pres ride a bike down PA Ave after the inauguration and crash into a tree as he reaches the White House.

They already did that according to the book written by the former photographer .... Abbey had a seance on her birthday and spoke to her dead mother.

Fenix, I can't believe how well you're taking the news. I thought with the move, this would put you over the edge. Are you feeling ok?

They already had Sheen do that intro a couple weeks ago about Spencer. I am guessing they'll just have a body-double shot from the back or re-use old footage of Leo doing the victory-wave after the election. In other words, I don't think Leo will die, he just won't be in the show any more, with the exception of some CGI trickery at the victory ceremony.

They only have to avoid the issue for a couple more episodes anyway.

Krafty - I am bummed but to tell you the truth, the show has not been the same the past couple years. The charachters are wonderful but most of them were coming to an end this season anyway. The only ones that would have been staying are Josh and Donna.

The thing that made me fall in love with the show was it's mix of intelligence and subtle sarcastic humor and frankly, most of the humor left with Sorkin.

I will miss the show but to tell you the truth, I just didn't see a way they could have carried the show on next season without both Jed AND Leo. They were it's conscience.

I too just hate to see this show go! It's been appointment TV for me, whatever night it's on. I'm interested to see what they do about Leo's death.

And it really hasn't been the same for the past year or so. Sorkin made that show.

I actually liked the show, but couldn't watch on Sundays. Housewives rocks then Grey's anatomy after that. Too bad they moved it from Wednesdays. Nothing good on Wednesdays now.

But they also were going way too left for many and it turned off way too many people to survive.

Stone - West Wing was always a "left leaning" show. I read an article last week that said that after Spencer passed away, NBC and John Wells met and agreed the show should end. The decided not to announce until after the holidays.

Maggie - Rent it damnit or I'm coming down there, chaining you an uncomfortable chair and we are having 6 series marathon - should take about a week - 10 days if we watch the specials features, rewatch epsisodes with commentary on and I decide to pause and point out the always changing scenery in the goldfish bowl. (One charachter was given a goldfish in the first season and set decorators changed the theme of the bowl decorations in every show after that to go with the theme or an incident in that weeks episode. There are websites dedicated to that goldfish bowl - I'll make you view every one of those too.)

Fenix. Do tell! I don't mind a spoiler.

It seems to me that over the years the shows I've loved the most have been prematurely cancelled. And all that garbage is still on TV, going strong. The reality shows, the sitcoms. It's cruel!

Leo is going to pass away five days before the election. Santos then has to decide if he is going to pick and announce a new VP prior to the election which could possibly help gain votes in a key state or hurt him if he picks an improperly vetted candidate or wait until after the election when any selection would have to go thru the congressional approval process if he wins.

I think this will be the episode that aires before they break for the olympics. The election result episode will be the first episode back. then there are some farewells and the last episode will be the swearing in of the new president.

Rumor has it some old favs may return from Mandyville for the final episode including Sam.

Thanks, Fenix. Gee, I hate to see this show go. I'll have to wear black for the last episode, I guess.

By the way, I have a question: When they say 7 seasons, do they mean 7 years? I've never known if they mean years or two separate "seasons" during one year. It just doesn't seem as though the show as gone 7 years. . . .

It really has been 7 years. The show started in Bartletts second year in office and this is the end of his 8th (hence the elections) I know what you mean about it not seeming that long though... it seems like just a couple years ago that it all started.

Want a real wake up on time? Law & Order is in the midst of season.... 16.

It's not an American show, but I'm eagerly awaiting the 29th Season of Doctor Who starting in March.

Doctor Who Episode Guide/Timeline Season 28

Is that the season after Christopher Eccleston dies and David Tennant takes the reins? Should be a good season as Tennant is a great replacement and should last more than one season. I believe the BBC has plans to allow free digital downloads in certains markets too so save space on your video iPod.

My whole family really enjoyed the 2005 Doctor Who series (it was on TV here last year). I can still recall seeing the first Doctor Who (in B&W) back in the mid 60s - scary stuff it was too!

I'll miss The West Wing for all its entertaining storylines and occasional glimpse of the grubby reality of US politics, but my feeling is that its time had come to go quietly into the night...

I wsas wrong. It looks like this upcoming season is #28. Tennante=28, Eccleston=27th year.

I liked Eccleston, but after seeing the Christmas Invasion special, I think Tennant will be pretty good too.

I don't know about the BBC offering downloads, but I'm in the USA and managed to download every episode within HOURS of when they aired in the UK last year. The Eccleston series is going to be on SCI-FI sometime this spring. I've already seen them all, but will almost certainly watch again.
