Well, the truck arrived and is unloaded, most boxes are unpacked, I have killed off three utility knife blades cutting up empty boxes and we still have no idea what 60% of the plethora of light switches in this place actually work but so far so good except....
We cannot get my mothers PC to start up. She seems to feel that there is a DOS prompt that will enable a system restore but not sure what that prompt is. My only suggestion was c/punt or c/BuyAMac but I figured someone here might know a slightly less expensive one. Any suggestions?

DOS is all we are getting. Can't find the system restore disks right now. That's one of those things thats hard enough to remember where it is normally, much less when most of your office is still in boxes.

if you have the prompt
c:>
type: dir/w press <enter>
and see if you have a windows directory
if you do
reboot and when you see the first screen press f8 to go into safe mode.

Okay 99% of "I moved my computer/mousetrap and it doesn't work now" problems are simply fixed by looking for the loose cable and reattaching it. No need to do any Windoze 98/2k/XP reinstall which could potentially wipe out all your data that you forgot to regularly backup for the past five years...
If the WiFi isn't working then check the card's connections are good and that it's firmly seated (doesn't apply if a Mac).

Forgot to add that you probably need to replace the PRAM battery on the motherboard as it's probably dead. If a PC (Mac included) doesn't switch on after being disconnected from the power for a few hours then it's a sure sign that the PRAM battery is deceased/passed away/gone to meet it's maker...

Hate em hate em hate em!! She was still having problems with it when I left - something new would be inoperative every time she started it up. I almost had her talked into a mini Mac but I had not quite completed the sell when it was time for me to leave (got home today). The only issue still in the air was networking her files with the steps PC files. Personally I didn't see it as a big deal - the only programs he understands are AOL and Photoshop but I think secretly she knew he would not get over her having a Mac and hi (the artist) not having one and getting her to buy two computers while closing on the house and looking at having to build a dock this summer was a bit much.
