It was such a nice day here today that my brother and I took out our guns and went practice shooting. It gave me a good chance to try out some new reloads that I loaded up last week.

gotta tell ya Bear-I hate snow.Ever since I stopped skiing and playing ice hockey,I have no use for winter.Me and Linda love the warm weather, and when I retired,we had planned on moving to Scottsdale,AZ.However she doesnt want to retire just yet,so I dont know if we'll ever get out there. But then again, I hate snakes,so maybe that isnt such a good idea LOL

There aren't any snakes in Snots-dale. It's against the rules for critters to intrude on the lives of the big-shot dwellers therein. They're having a bit of a time though, with the scorpions and Black Widows...they just don't seem to think the rules were made for them...no respect for wealthy persons from other places who've paid good money to live in the desert without really having to experience it. Good call Classic, the desert is not for the fainthearted.
It hasn't rained, much less snowed, in my neck of the woods in almost 150 days. There is no grass left and there won't be any this spring, none next fall. I'm already budgeting for hay prices to go through the barn roof.. On the plus side, it was 75 today, 10 degrees above normal. I cleaned lamb pens in my shorts.

Storm bypassed us and we just had a few flurries and a bit of rain. Could be a real mess for some people who dont deal with snow very well. Nyc received upward of 2 feet fromwhat I heard, but they are walkers and mass transit oriented, so they can get around anyway. Down here nobody knows how to handle the snow. They close everything down with the first sign of it falling. But they avoid alot of accidents.

You betcha, especially in all the new "planned communities" that're sprouting up out of virgin desert..they disturb all the critters living there to build houses, so the critters just move in to the nice new places along with the people.

just an update-central park in nyc got a record 27 inches...
Profe..okay-forget about Az.how about Vegas? anything wrong with that??? Actually waaaay back in Jan of 72 I took my wife(who was my girlfiend at the time) to Las Vegas. We went to one of those "lands sales" deals where they offered ya a free breakfast(big deal) Anyway I got sucked into buying some land in some God forsaken place called "Pahrump"(SP?) Nevada. The next day we drove out to the place, maybe 1/2 hr from Vegas to see what it looked like. There was nothing there except gates that lead into the place. There were markers that indicated whos land was what, but there were NO other buildings at all.The next day (Sunday) I read in the N.Y.Times about land scams down in Florida where people were selling swamp land.I immediately went back to the place and asked for my money back and to back out of the deal-which to my surprise they did. So if I had never read that article in the N.Y.Times, I would still own land out there-I dont know if its built up or not,but I did see an episode on CSI Las Vegas where the went out to Pahrump to interview someone-so I guess there must be something there LOL
scorpions-I only encountered one in my life.
It was on the back of my ship when I was in Vietnam. We were "harbored" in Cahm Rahn Bay"
for the Bob Hope Christmas show in Dec 1965.
A bunch of us were back there sitting around at night, drinking coffee, smoking cigs and B.S.'s up a storm when someone said "dont move-scorpion" It was dark out,but I could clearly see that this creature was an ugly looking bastard with its tail up.A corpman calmly went and got a glass jar and with a paper "scooted" the damn thing in the jar, close the top and took it up to "sick bay"..for what reason,I have no idea.
Bullsh*tting up a storm-sailors are good for that. When you out at sea for weeks, there isnt much else to do.We had quite a mixture of people on board-Hispanics,black,whites and whites from the south, which were a different breed alltogether. Here it was exactly 100 years after the civil war ended and they were still fighting it.I would love to have a dollar for everytime someone from Tn,Ms,Al or Ga said the phrase "The south shall rise again" No I kid you not-very bizzare. Then I got to thinking, why would you want the south to rise again?...wasnt one ass beating enough??
Anyway enough of this sailors B.S.ing...I have to go out and snowblow...what else but snow.

It bypassed us!!! We got a dusting. However, the east side of Cleveland (snow belt) is getting hammered as usual. The Lake Erie snow machine is in full swing. With the warm January, the lake never froze.
I'm with Classic, I hate snow.

Classic - go over to EO and put out a call for Vegas residents. There is an occasional poster, frequesnt lurker that lives there.
Right now I'm thinking Vegas but I heard the Phoenix Swap Meet rocks for some of the items that I sell so I'm heading there in couple weeks to check it out. I figure I'll give it a couple weekends and if it works, that's going to be my next destination.

Classic, you know, when you went to look at them, and saw gates, they may have been planning a community back then, of nice homes.
But instead, they all put up mobile homes.
I've seen pictures of Art Bells house, doesn't look like a mobile home, but it is. He built a studio and has a massive mechanic type garage. He seems to really like it there, out there in the high desert, as he always says on his show.
and on a totally different subject, his wife, Ramona died last month. She was 47. They never had been seperated a day since they were married, it was really sad
