Bear - correct me if I am wrong but I don't think there has been a controversy about a delay in notifiying the police. The controversy is regarding the 18 hour delay between the incident and the announcement to the press, one that came only AFTER a Corpus news org had the story.
By waiting, they turned a 3 day story into something that is going to last alot longer. Had they made the announcement, short and sweet Saturday evening (VP CHenet was involved in a hunting accident this afternoon in Texas. He accidentally peppered a member of his hunting party with birdshot. The gentleman has been hospitalized, in good condition. That is all the information we have available at this time. We will you more info tomorrow as it becomes available.)here would have been lots of jokes and every news organization in town would have brought in hunting experts to pretend that they know exactly what happened, people would have gotten bored with them quickly and it would all be over.
Instead you have an entirely different story. This Whitehouse has been hit with a series of controversies it's communication skills. They are either not being upfront or they are in secret leaks of info and now you have this. Poll after poll shows a rather scary lack of trust in this administration and these dimwits just continue to feed into it. It's a basic of PR that if you are faced with a negative situation that is not going to stay hidden you come forward with it as soon as possible in order to keep as much control over the spin as you can.
So now the question becomes ... Is this Whitehouse so brain dead stupid that that they don't know not saying anything until the press had the story was not a great idea or are they so arrogant they actually believed they might have been able to keep the whole thing quiet.
As it is, they chose their path, now they have to live with the consequences.

Cheney referred to putting the "body " in the ambulance.
Takes a few hours to hide a dead person and cook up a really good story.

Fenix, I have seen or heard of very few instances here in Texas in which, after a shooting incident occurs, and being reported to the police in which the cops did NOT make an announcemet to the press about it.
Crowfart, what about it. Cheney didn't say the deceased was placed in the ambulance.

fenix, what kind of country do we live in when a person, public official or not, cannot go on a hunting trip, have an accident...and its expected the White House has to issue a press release? Exactly what did this have to do with the White house, or politics at all? You make it sound like every public official's every move is subject to public scrutiny. If there's rights to privacy in this country, it applies to everyone.
This whole story is so completely blown out of proportion its not funny.

Dbl - if you believe that a politician in this country today, much less the second most powerful leader of the nation has any expectation of privacy then you are simply not paying attention.

No, fenix, I pay enough attention. (Tho I am not that much a media junkie and hog.) But that doesnt make it right. What's next? If he is constipated for over 6 hours should they notify the press before 18 hours?

None of the idiots on OTWA including you EVER got the upper hand on me.
I made several comments on different threads that none of you EVER commented about, the last being only two days ago.
That you chose to spend the majority of your time there indicates that you acknowledge the fact you have had your azz hauled to the wood shed so many times here, the only place your can find solace is with your fellow demoncrats at a sight where they support your twisted idea of the truth. I have noted that weeks will pass without a comment from you here at the RT. You must be off licking your wounds.

I dont see in the Constitution where there is a
"time-line" mandated where the government is to report incidents.18 hours-not even a FULL day-give it break-who cares weather it was 12,16 or 18 hours-it was reported. The only ones b*tching about this are democrats, how desperate can you get??? Since you cant come up with a viable candidate for 2008 you're grasping at ANYTHING to make the government look bad-well dont fret-you have 3 1/2 more years to come up with some lame ass who will represent you...which in turn means you have 3 1/2 more years of George Bush, who you cant stand....sucks to be you....

Classic - I wouldn't be accusing the Dems of lacking a viable candidate when the republicans lack a front runner as well. Other than McCain who is way too liberal for the party's current ultra conservative stance, who is the republican frontrunner? At least the Dems know who their front runner is right now, even if she has not announced.

nerfball, sad but true. As much as some people want it and could see another clinton presidency, I dont know they could pull it off across the country to get the vote. But who knows what would go down in the primaries? From what I saw on TV, the govt from NM is looking good for the dems. Is biden going to run? Heard some buzz about it...but then no more. Takes money to get in that game. Lots of it.

Biden wouldn't win. Congressmen don't win. You have to be a governor or VP to get elected.
