Simpson to pay Lachey?
Feb. 19, 2006. 01:00 AM

LOS ANGELES—In divorce papers filed Friday, Nick Lachey is seeking spousal support from singer-actress Jessica Simpson, and he wants his jewelry back.

In responding to Simpson's Dec. 16 divorce filing, Lachey, 32, cited irreconcilable differences for the end of the three-year marriage. He asked for "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects," other assets and part of Simpson's earnings after separation.

They had no prenuptial agreement and Simpson has asked the court not to grant spousal support.

Lachey, who gained fame in the boy-band 98°, had more earning power when the couple wed in 2002, but Simpson's fame skyrocketed during the marriage. The 25-year-old reportedly earned more than $30 million last year.

Here is why I love this story....

When they got engaged, HE wanted a prenup and her father told her not to sign one. Lachey was the one that appeared to have all the earning potential and cash at the time and daddy Simpson wanted to make sure his little girl, who had barely known at the time, could take him for as much as possible if they broke up. Now the greed is coming back to bite her in the ass and I think it's downright hilarious.

I could not give a damn about celebrity break ups but watching someone getting the tables turned on them like this always makes me grin.

'LOS ANGELES—In divorce papers filed Friday, Nick Lachey is seeking spousal support from singer-actress Jessica Simpson, and he wants his jewelry back.'

So we are supposed to feel some sort of sympathy for either one on this?

Oh wait, I get it, this is a news story for people with enquiring minds.

Yes but it is unusual for the man to get spousal support

No - just amusement at the irony.

I agree, fenix. I find it quite amusing and I hope he does get "a little something to remember her by". However, if the jewelry in question was a gift- it's hers, with the exception of family heirlooms. California is a community property state, so he's entitled to half anyway.
