"Classic should use some of his millions to take an English writing course."

Classic is a champion chess player...good evidence that he is a thinker. He just needs to broaden his horizons beyond the bedroom.

I've always done our income tax and that includes small business and rental income. The most time consuming job is assembling all the necessary data. After completing that step, who needs a professional to fill in the blanks?

We have our bookkeeper do our taxes for us because it gets tricky when some income is non-taxable when working out of the country etc.

Classic, you were discussing chess with fiset and you mentioned that you played in tournaments and that you were a member of the U.S. Chess Federation. You said that you played in a tournament in Atlantic City to determine the chess champion of the U.S. In your category you said that you won 4 games but had to leave early because your fiance's wife died. To me, that sounds like a champion.

Colin...I don't rent residential property so you can't call me a slum landlord.

I have an accountant do it. I never really understood how depreciation works, and it always seems to be a big deal on my bottom line. Some stuff seems to carry over for years and years and other stuff is only good one time.

I don't know, and don't really want to know!

thanks for the link Helen-damn you got a hell of a memory. It was nice reading that link again.I forgot fiset posted in here, its been a long time since he posted.I have to tell you I was not a master by any means. At the time my rating was between 1300-1400,which was just average.Bobby Fischer who at the time was the highest rated player ever, was 2820.Even now,I dont know if anyone ever topped that.Thats why when you play in tournaments you can play in a bracket you think you have a chance at winning at.Everytime you won, your rating went up,and vice-versa when you lost. When you play in a tournament you have a chess clock. This clock is actually two clocks that kept time of your moves. There are two small plungers at the top of these clocks and when you make a move you press the plunger that is above your clock and that starts your opponents clock. In all tournaments you are allowed so much time to make a certain amount of moves (ie-50 moves in two hours)or you forfeit the game.
There is an interesting story on how chess clocks came to be:
During a chess game you NEVER speak to your opponent. Its distracting and against chess etiquette.During the early 1900's two Russian grandmasters were playing for the championship.Since there was no chess clock, you could take as long as you wanted to move.During the game, both of them sat there for FOUR HOURS neither one making a move or speaking. Finally one of them broke the silence and said "are you going to move"??
The other one said "Am I going to move??, I thought it was your turn!" True story-thats why they now have chess clocks.
By the way the are having the chess champion ship in Chicago,Ill this weekend.

Classic, I had no idea you were into chess!

I've got an entire bookshelf full of chess books I bought on eBay a few years back. I've got probably 100 or more books, by every grandmaster, master, and mini-master there ever was.

I've got probably every computer chess program ever released. Chessmaster seventy-two-billion, Fritz, all the way back to Sargon II on the Vic-20 and the old Atari 2600 Chess game.

I played in High school and on a BBS league, back before the Internet was around.

I've got a glass set, a marble set, a wood set, maybe three plastic ones, a second glass-and-mirroed set, and those are actually "mine", not including the sets I sell on eBay.

You know what? I STILL STINK AT IT!

Looks like you made a post while I was typing. Back in high school, I was rated between 1250 and 1300. Once I got out of high school, I wasn't getting rated anymore, but I think I got better when computer chess games became available.

But then I went so long without playing, I pretty much "lost it". I really ought to try to get back into it. Nowadays with all the Internet players, there is really no excuse.

I do my own personal returns using Turbo Tax, it hasn't failed me yet. For ranch returns, I use an accountant, he's the third generation in his family who's been doing our taxes for us. I send him the books on CD quarterly and he does the rest...comes out here for a final lookover before I sign and file.

I use Turbo Tax and have done my taxes for years. The only time I ever had someone else do them was when I was in business with a friend,we had a game room and a restaurant and sold beer and wine. I didn't want hassle from the family so we used an accountant.
