Don't know if this has ever been asked but just curious what people here did in their spare time for fun or recreation.

during the winter not much.Go to the gym around 5 times a week....not to build muscles, just to keep from getting over weight.I also use to play ice hockey and ski,but at my age,I dont do that anymore.Me and the wife use to go to the movies, but with the dvds coming out so fast now,we dont do much of the either. We also use to go to rock concerts, but now the music sucks so much we dont do that either. We also use to go to New York to see plays and musicals but when we moved upstate we dont do that anymore either.During the summer when I was single I traveled quite a bit.I have traveled thru every state in the U.S. except Alaska. Now that Im married and have a house to pay for we cant afford to do much traveling-which coinsides with we used go out to dinner quite a bit,but with house expenses we dont to that much anymore either.......come to think of it,my life really sucks. Thanks for asking irked, ya just made my day-now I think I'll go out in the garage and just hang myself.

I can always find something fun to do when i'm bored, like every once in a long while when i'm really bored my brother and I will go to the mall and there's this area in the middle that's kinda widened out with wooden park type benches and somewhat of a garden around the edges with trees and plants and such. We'll take a couple of quarters and superglue them to the floor in the middle of the walkway and then sit back and watch people get all frustrated trying to pick them up.
Otherwise, I go swimming a couple times a week to keep in shape, hey round is a shape too.
In the warmer months I go fishing quite a bit to the many small streams around the state.
We have a family ranch in northern NM that we go camping to quite a bit and I have my own cabin there. We call the place Rancho Costa Nada. We have two small streams that run across our land and they both have trout in them.
The ranch is fairly close to the Pecos Wilderness and we've riden horseback and backpacked in to some of the most remote and wild areas of the Pecos.
There's Bighorn sheep up near the tree line in the Pecos that are somewhat tame and you can feed them peanuts out of your hand. I'll see if I can find the pictures of this.
One particular time we were there, feeding peanuts to the sheep and there was a mountain lion a short distance away that was sitting there watching the herd. I think my brother got some pictures of him. He was a magnificent looking cat. Big, strong and powerfull and he looked like he could easilly bring down a full grown sheep, if he could catch it first.

Wow Piin, I am jealous, I am like Classic thinking of going to garage too, LOL only problem there it is so cluttered I can't get into it to find a spot for a rope.
I too use to do a lot of things but now I just seem to be in a rut. If it weren't for Nascar and DVDs I would not have much fun at all. I like selling on Ebay but that too can get down right --- drag you down lately.
I can't wait for warmer weather to stay around and then I plan to go fishing. Yard work also keeps my mind in tact, and am also going to clean that garage out, also my Ebay shop is going to get a good rearranging. Going to be soon as I don't want it too hot to get anything done. Spring cleaning, guess that is about best I can come up with for fun? did I say that-- fun? I got to get a life!

Yes I saw that accident, it came on just before the Bristol race Sunday and I was amazed both weren't killed in that crash. The guy that ran into the one that hit the wall is the one that was killed and I think the other guy got out of the hospital this morning not even a broken bone. Amazing and awful at same time.
Kraft, Much like Classic and I am too busy being in a rut I guess to have any fun. I watch the races every weekend, go to work, hardly get any sleep and still do ebay. I haven't listed in a week almost as my son's have kept me otherwise occupied helping them. They are adults and still have to hold their hands. Between both of them picking the wrong women to get involved with and shuffeling between home with us and their place I am suprised I still have a mind left. I have 2 boomerange kids, I think that is what you call them now days. We the wife and I are ready to move and leave no forwarding address. LOL
We did get away this evening and went out to eat about 60 miles away from our home. I won $500.00 on a scratch off lottery ticket yesterday, so we decided to splurge on dinner out. I should be in bed before work in morning but here I sat. Been trying to find room for my son's stuff and took a break. Should not have sat down now I got to go to bed.

Here in Colorado... nothing and it's driving me crazy so I just charmed the owner of a boxing gym into letting me join on a month to month basis without all the sign up costs. I start tomorrow.

I am not sure I have seen those commercials will have to see them. I hear that the new movie Failure to Launch is about a move home son. Might give me some ideas.
Well as of today my oldest son may be staying in his appartment with the B#tch who he does not know yet if she is staying. Last night she was shacked up with her EX. Super long story and can't believe I raised an idiot. Love him but told my son I think he has lost his mind. Now his 51 inch HDTV and stand and components are taking up space in back of my Van and don't know where it will wind up. I am ready to wash my hands of the whole mess. Y'all pray for me to keep my marbles and my temper.
Deb worked all day rearranging the house what she could do and she said she will NOT do it again, I think she is madder than ever. Wonder if I am getting supper tonight? Bologna sandwich probably. LOL

Irked, that sounds like my older brother. He's always calling my Mom about one girl or another who won't stick with him or sleeps around or whatever. He sounds just like your son. The punch line? He's 48 years old-- so don't just assume that he'll grow out of it.
"Now his 51 inch HDTV and stand and components are taking up space in back of my Van and don't know where it will wind up."
Bring 'em on over. We can store them in my living room. I'll even spring for gas!

I think you are right they never grow out of it or UP. Thinking of holding the TV hostage tell him to choose the TV or the girlfriend. You would just NOT believe all the crap she has pulled and I told my son she has your number do it once get away with it & it will continue.

Wow!! Congratulations irked...on that scratch-off win. And lol at the bologna sandwich for dinner.
In my generation we couldn't wait to leave home at 18...get out on our own. Never thinking about returning home.
But I know with both our sons...they left at much later ages and then each came home one time. It's hard when you, as a couple, get used to having them gone...and then they return. Hard for them too, I guess. And nice when they leave again.
My youngest son found the same problem as he dated....too many girls think nothing of stepping outside the relationship now-a-days. But he finally found the right one, who had also had that issue with the guys she dated....and her ex....who was playing around on her while she was pregnant with their first child.
I think that's one of their strongest bonds....truth....honesty....and character to stay committed in a relationship. Becoming rarer and rarer now it appears.
Good luck with your son. We never really stop worrying about them....no matter how old they get. But it sure is easier to live separately than together once they are grown.

Thanks Linda, I am hoping for the empty nest again. You are right seems like the later generations have hardly any respect for their relationships. I too am from the generation of leaving home ASAP after school and making it on my own, would never dream to going home.
Possible good news is that both son's are thinking of moving in together that take them both out of my house but leads to a whole possible crop of new problems. I will think positive though and encourage their partnership. Everyone keep their fingers crossed, legs, eyes and or toes.

Classic, sorry to hear that, it has to be tough to to lose both parents at a young age. I don't mind helping my kids it is just the circumstances for doing so that is a real pita. I love them and want to help but when it comes to repeatedly falling for a girls lies and not really paying attention to his old man who tried to tell him --well it gets old. I know you can't run their lives but geezzzz. I have always been believer in -Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Guess my kids don't have that philosophy, LOL in fact I think they must be brain dead to let some gal sh*t on them constantly in same way.
I must be getting old as dirt cause I was probably just as brain dead back in my day. Guess they have to learn the hard way themselves. Only difference is I would never let my parents know what a dipsh*t I had been. As they say ignorance is bliss. What you don't know won't hurt you...--- all that stuff.
But hey I am having fun finally venting my frustration. Thanks everyone for listening.

Classic, I too had to make my way at an early age. My whole family did. Illness or death can be a quick lifeplan derailer.
Irked, I hear kids now are still living with their parents at like 30-40 and stuff? I wish my parents were around for me to fall back on sometimes. We were told to go get a job and make our own way. And yes, I think at that age, you have to learn it for yourself. Eventually your kids will remember what you hav told them. I would think thats why its important for some kind of foundation.

I enjoy the game of Lacrosse so this is my time of year. No kidding I can enjoy watching 4th or 5th graders play and have fun. Some of the little guys like that can't find a helmet that is small enough while the kids are running down the field their oversize helmets are falling in front of the eyes. Stuff like that is fun to watch with the little guys.
I got a chance to watch this one kid from 6th grade thru college. The kid became a High School All American, a 2 time College All American playing with a Maryland team that won back to back NCAA National Championships.
My wife and I try to spend a few hours a week helping the old or needy is some small way. We find that enjoyable and rewarding.
We are finding it fun to look for a new area of the country to live in. We want to be closer to the ocean someplace. Any place from Delaware to the Fla keys.

db my son's are 27 and 31. 31 year old claims he is going to keep his appartment but I don't see any progress in that direction as he is sleeping here again tonight. LOL Girlfriend is gone moved out and now I hear he would take her back and she is comiing back to town Friday. I out right ask him if he had lost his mind? So the stuff keeps flowing. I did say to him if he takes her back I wash my hands of the whole thing. That financially I was tapped. Might have been a little overboard on that but sh*t happens so I hear. haha.
Big, where are you now in relation to ocean. Good move to stick on east coast I hear the west coast is going to fall into the ocean. Kidding I hope.
Does Delaware have hurricanes? if not I'd look there first. While your at it find me a place I'm thinking a remote island right about now.

What I do for fun when not ebaying etc...
I live a good deal of the year alone while Mr.Boom travels the globe with his work.. so I have plenty of time on my hands.
I read, paint, go to the gym, shop, shop, and shop some more. I visit with my kids and grand kids. I visit with friends and family. I do volunteer reading at the local old age home for the blind. I walk my big dog for exercise, or rather she walks me... I love the outdoors, but only until Mid June, then it's to hot and humid to do much. Basically, I enjoy life and every day to the fullest. Today I could have gone turkey hunting, but I didn't want to get up at 4 AM and I'd just be annoying anyway.. can't sit still for long.. ha ha

Double, I've also experienced a lot of death in my family. Actually everyone is dead except for my mom. If that doesn't make you grow up fast, nothing will. I can imagine how much you miss your parents. That must be hard for you.

why is this guy always giving him self accolades?
Nah kraft, its not that sad or hard, really. Save your sympathy in that area for someone else...youre projecting, I think. I am glad you consider yourself a designer. I like designs and fashion and such, but the last time I spoke about it here some bunge blipo went off the wall about it.

I'm not projecting that you must miss your parents, Doughhead... unlesss they were creeps or something. And since when did you care if someone went off the wall about something you said? I think design is cool - no matter what field. I bet you're good at it too.
