I guess they don't wanna give the inmates any ideas.
A controversy is brewing over a screening of the Oscar winning film "Brokeback Mountain" at a Massachusetts prison.
Boston, MA -- A prison officer is being punished for showing the film to inmates at MCI Norfolk, the state's largest prison.
So what's wrong with the movie? A prison spokesperson tells WBZ4, CBS' Boston affiliate, that officials had no problem with the homosexual subject matter, but that it is against the rules to show any movie with sexually explicit scenes.
The prison officer is being disciplined for not screening the film before showing it to the inmates.
We asked the prison for a list of other movies that are not allowed to be shown within their walls. Among them are Boogie Nights, Monsters Ball, Eyes Wide Shut, Summer of Sam, and Showgirls.
So what is approved for prisoners? How about: Herbie Fully Loaded, The Chronicles of Narnia, Grease, The English Patient, North By Northwest, Far From Heaven, and The Manchurian Candidate.

I finally watched Brokeback Mountain when it came on DVD.
I read reviews right before saying it was an 'Epic' and one of the greatest love stories.
My opinion only, and taking the gay stuff out.. it wasn't a great movie, and to me, it wasn't even a good movie, and it wasn't the greatest love story. Yes there was a love story in it, but it wasn't the greatest.
It amazed me that it was even on the nominee list for Academy Awards.
Heath Ledger (sp?) couldn't even understand what he was saying, he mumbled so badly.
The only good things about the movie was the scenery, (and the one wife did a very good job)
but most people don't watch movies for the scenery.
