Do you have any opinions on this outspoken actor? Do you think he was right or wrong speaking about Brook Shields post pardem depression? Do you think he has the knowledge to say that medication is wrong?
Do you think Tom Cruise should just stay to acting?

I think he has every right to speak his mind on whatever subject he wants to talk about.
I also think he's an idiot.

As a good friend of mine (who stands 5'4" says, Cruise is the type of person who gives short people a bad name. He (Cruise) also has a Napoleon complex.

I think he is absolutly correct.
Listen, you people are so trusting of medical science and all you can buy and sell, you have forgotten the body's ability to spiritually heal itself, or maybe you goons never knew it at all (probably not if I know this board at all). I dont think medication is bad if YOU THINK it will help you, but they have tested this sh* and half the tests, the placebos do just the same trick. How do you answer that?
hmmm??

Well, he was surprisingly sane tonight. Quite a change from recent interviews. Maybe the studio asked him to mellow out on the retoric.

Yes, TC was rather ho hum and not near what I expected. I was waiting for a get in your face like with the Today show host - Matt L. He was rather like-able in the interview. Somewhat guarded in his answers and I think he realized his goofs from past and maybe was struggling for just the right tame answer.
I do think he is big time smitten with Katie and is very much the proud Papa to be which is refreshing in today's times.
Placebo's?
So who is to say except those that are helped or not helped with medicines. Whoever has not taken medications for a problem and or do not have a problem then they can not say with any authority that medications do not help or that they do help. Only those that have experience can say. Also medications can help one person and could possibly have adverse affects on another. My wife says It is all a crap shoot especially with Anti-depressants.. She has had several bouts with depression due to her disablilty and back problems. But I can say that the medication worked miracles for her WHEN they found the right one for her.

There see now what you went and gone and did now, Dblf? Prof thinks that placebo's are some sort of a new breed of horse that apparently can fly. Hmmm, I wonder what sort of drugs he's on.

Tom has never suffered post-partum depression. Those of us who have had it in varying degrees of severity will say it is very real. And a woman having just given birth, depressed, would have trouble dealing with her mind, trying to manipulate her psyche, when she is sleep-deprived, hurting a bit, dragging around, and perhaps frightened of dealing with a new baby.

The last two times I saw TC he was jumping on sofa's.
I thought he WAS taking drugs...since he acted like he was higher than a kite.
==========
And yes, Libra, he should stick to what he knows. So many people listen to these so called 'stars' and do what they say...just because of who they play in a movie or two.
============
dbl - placebo's have been proven to work just as well as the 'real' thing. I do believe a LOT is in our mind...and that we can use our minds to help with pain...etc. But TC is still a wacko, imo.

Well---Where do I start.----He along with the rest of the Hollywood set are way at the bottom of my list. I can honestly say I have never seen him in a movie and I probably won't in my lifetime. What his religion is, if that is what it is called, is his business but I hate it when someone pushes their agenda on me and I think that is what he is doing. Religion is a private matter as it should be to everyone else. When someone comes and says their religion is more important than mine, that is up to me to decide and no one else. To think someone thinks he is more knowledgable than physicians is beyond my comprensension. I hope that Katie (I guess that is her name) doesn't let him run her life, but I feel this isn't a good start for her. She will have many obsticles to overcome.
I also have opinions on Brad Pitt and Angelina Joliee. They expect to get 5 million dollars for their babies picture. Lets get real does anyone really care.

yeah, i notice'ee that half the stupid studies they do with placebos is how they prove or disprove a medication's effectiveness. (Anybody notice just recently that after years of saying saccrin/asperteme is a canerious agent, a few weeks ago they said now it's not?) Fact of the matter is they dont really know what psychotropic drugs do or dont do chemically within the body and the mind. I do agree certain medications can be an 'easement' for hormonal imbalances which exist but after the body recoups, you are stuck with a chemical dependancy and every time something feels bad or depressive now you think you need man made chemicals.

I agree with you Double. People depend on being able to take the path of least resistance for everything they encounter. Taking a pill is easier than putting any effort into anything.

holy sh* kraft, we agree on something?
Taking a pill is easier than putting any effort into anything.
Yes, much easier to be comfortably numb than deal with anything or find an alternative means to alievate what is ailing you. Or look into yourself for answers.
Kraft, did you ever listen to Howard Stern tell his story about his back? He had real bad back problems and tried everything. Best doctors money could buy. Then he got into some medidtation techniques and learned that much of his physical pain was manifested by resentment and other emotions he harbored and learned to deal with it. I think he speaks about not having those problems since.

Well I have to disagree with that. I doubt if any of you have had panic attacks. Not the mild ones but the full blown ones.
It feels like your heart is going to jump out of your body. You wish you could pass out and when you wake it will be over. It lasts over 17 hours (panic Attacks classic)
What would YOU do?
Now I explained a panic attack I had. I also walked about 4 miles during that hoping I could stop it. I have breathing techniques I can do but nothing helped. I tried not to take my medication but that night was just horrible. It will never happen again because I will take my medication. I don't wish that on anyone.

Oh, Libra.. I had a panic attack once and it was terrible... it happened when I was cleaning husband #2 out and making a getaway..the movers were running slow and I was in a right panic to get everything on the truck and out of there before hubby #2 got back... sheesh, that was a close one..!!
He had quite a panic attack when he returned to an empty house too!
