Hey Bigpeepa, I see you're still keeping 'em riled up

Just heard on Big Ed ...a Texas judge is encouraging everyone in his county to boycott Exxon/Mobil on Monday. Guess they'er a rural community and can't afford trips to the doctor anymore.... He's gotten publicity from around the world on this one.

It would be nice if the rest of the country followed along.
Oh, ya, I know it won't bring the oil company to it's knees but at least it's raising a little hell !!!!!

Hear about the Exxon execupig whose retiremant package(the REPORTED one) was 4 MILLION ????

Oil company profits were hit really hard a few years back when oil was $10 - $15 a barrel, but as you reported they have rebounded. BP and other energy companies with downstream refining operations have done even better profit wise. And they pay hefty dividends quarterly too!

(disclaimer: I've owned oil stocks since 1987 when they couldn't give them away cheap enough)

Just wait they predict gas to get to $7.00 a gallon.

Who should get the profit bigpeepa the poor people? This is what a robin hood effect is.

I think we all had a chance to buy into the stock of oil companies and most choose not to now the ones that did are doing a happy dance.

What did I tell ya. Just look at WashingtoneBayer and Bear. Both have zero to say in defense of DUMBO BUSH and his gang of CROOKED CONSERVATIVE LAWMAKERS in regards to Exxon/Mobile 8.4 first quarter profit. Both gave me my laugh for the day.

My other laugh for today was when I heard the republican lawmakers say they want to give a $100.00 check to everyone. This check is to help with the high price of gas. LOL

I say hey republican lawmakers you can keep my $100.00 check. Give my check to the family of one of the American soldiers you sent to war based on lies to be killed in Iraq.

Hey Bigpeepa, doncha just love the Repugs plan of writing us checks

It's OUR money their using to fund the checks!

Then, it's INCOME so we will have to pay TAXES on it.
What a typical Republican out-of-touch with reality ploy!
How goddamn condescending ! How

STUPID!

They haven't the faintest idea how long that $75.00 will last buying gas! What DOPES!

THAT'S they're answer to higher gas prices! What total nincompoops!

"I think we all had a chance to buy into the stock of oil companies and most choose not to now the ones that did are doing a happy dance"

I could give a rats ass about the oil companys stockholders.

I hate to say this, but I agree with the demos on this one.Your forgetting one thing-when the price of gas goes up it effects EVERYTHING.Not just putting gas in your cars, but when shippers ship goods by truck or plane, and the gas is higher, the price of food, clothing etc will also be higher because it costs more to get here-its like living in Hawaii-everything is higher there because they have to ship everything in.Also its like a monopoly-you dont have a choice. Bear-when you said stop buying gas,how the hell are people going to get to work,go shopping,go on vacations??? Buy a hybrid? thats a joke-spend a couple more thousand dollars and how long would it take me to make up the extra money I spent? If the auto industry was really serious about this they wouldnt be charging extra for hybrids. All these assholes want to do is take advantage of the situation to put more money in their pockets. In fact they should make ALL their cars hybrids-and stop making these ridiculously large vehicles aka Hummers to satisfy men with unusually small penis's.The fact is you HAVE to have gas,its not like if cigarettes went up to $10.00 a pack and you could quit-thats not something you need.I dont know why all you Republicans are so happy these gas companys are raking in so much money, especially when some scumbag oil executive is retiring on $400 million.

"Hear about the Exxon execupig whose retiremant package(the REPORTED one) was 4 MILLION ????"

crowfart-if you're going to post here, get your facts straight-it was 400 million, not 4 million, but then again whats a couple of hundred million here and there.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Amid record oil prices and soaring gasoline costs, Exxon Mobil's $400 million retirement package to its former CEO is a "shameful display of greed" that should be reviewed by Congress and investigated by federal regulators, Democratic Sen. Byron Dorgan (news, bio, voting record) said on Tuesday.

Dorgan said he wants Exxon Mobil officials to appear at a Senate Commerce Committee hearing to explain how the corporation "justifies" giving its former boss, Lee Raymond, such a huge retirement package.

classic,
Your post nails it. I see you understand the truth about the greed.

Bear do you want to rethink your statement? "Capitalism is the the American way of life. If you dont like the cost of gasoline, stop buying it."

Its like saying if you don't like the price of heating oil than freeze. Remember not all of those billions of dollars of profits come from gas.

Now Dumbo is looking into it with an investigation. Poor dumbo has finished himself no one believes him any longer.

Well Ron let me put it to you like this.
I dont like being held hostage to pay out rageous prices for something I absolutely need.
I have nothing against a company making money. If the Hershey corporation came out with a very expensive new candy bar and were making billions on it,ya think I would care?? I dont need Hershey bars, but I do need gas and oil.
I dont like contributing to some assholes 400 million pension fund at MY EXPENSE when they are holding me hostage.Im not a lawyer, but isnt there a law against monopolies? If you think the gas companies are not a monopoly go around town and try to find a big difference in gas prices.Isnt there a law against price fixing, price gouging??? Dunno Ron,but when some guy is getting 400 million at YOUR EXPENSE,I dont understand why you're not upset with this.

classic.

I don't think it's a matter of anyone being thrilled with these high gas/heating prices.

These are my personal thoughts on the subject.

First....we have a capitalistic economy. Prices vs demand. As we're beginnning to see right now...demand IS decreasing and prices are going back down.

Secondly....our gov. gets the largest 'profit' from gas prices being so high. Each state is different...but taxes imposed run from $.40 - $.60 cents a gallon, compared to approx. $.088 cents per gallon profit the oil companies are now enjoying. That's NOT a huge amount imo. AND because they're selling more gas...is the reason they're earning more...in profits.

Third...the democrat solution to this problem is to do what? RAISE GASOLINE TAXES. I don't see that as helping the situation for those already angry about gas prices. Imo, it will/would ONLY make it WORSE.

To additionally tax the oil companies profits is unfair to ANY company making profits. They have, after all, gone through periods of time when they haven't made such high profits....as is the situation with most large corporations.

Fourth - Imo, the reason for our high prices are what we're paying the OPEC nations to purchase it. Yes, it's based on 'expectations of further costs'.....and has always been speculative. Now...with the worry of Iran taking some sort of action that will greatly lower the oil available on the world market....Venesuala (sp) commie leader suggesting he too might cut us off....that drives up the price.

Fifth It's been the liberals who have limited our nations ability to drill for more oil....to build more refineries - for 30 years....to use wind mills....to build nuclear power plants....everything. They have fought and fought over the years to obstruct all that would have allowed us to have cheaper fuel.

Six - On the CEO's windfall retirement. Imo, it's not so high when you look at his contribution to that company for 42 years. Most large corporations give huge retirement packages to those who have built the companies from a lesser company into what they are today. Look the the CEO of G.E. same thing - it's normal and quite often happens. It's just when we see it affecting us directly that I believe it enrages some. Understandably.

And lastly....if we look to what all the other countries have been paying for their fuel....we've been spoiled for generations by paying such LOW prices.

Imo, the market will adjust as it always has done in the past. Once world worries are settled and world demand starts to decrease.

It's so blindingly stupid that I have to assume she's deeply into pain medication like her hero Limbaugh....and you know how righties feel...drugs are ok until you're caught.

I'm trying to be kind here....I'm trying to give linda an excuse for that bunch of BS and not assume it's just because she's so incredibly A. Brainwashed B. Stupid

I am not happy he got a $400 million retirement bonus. However the oil companies are just making the profit that is available to them because of all of the subsidies given them by CONGRESS and also part of the expense of gas is taxes 18 cents for federal to start and here in Washington we have an additional 9 cents tax.

I am not upset companies make a profit, where do you think the money will come from for any additional refineries? Exploration? Drilling?
If we didn't have such BS environmental laws and these companies were using all the domestic resources available to them, then and only then might I be upset over the profits they have earned.
Next time you fill up, think of the Caribou you are saving in ANWR, think of the supposed pollution you are protected against in making gasoline. Enjoy all of the laws that make producing gasoline a pain in the ass and also the high taxes the demos want for their little slice.

I too don't like paying as much as I do for gas, but that is the way it is.

The oil companies have as much right to make a profit as the next guy.

Hey bigdopa, mingonuts-cowfarm and idiot helen, how about selling your ebay items for cost? If you complain about the oil companies making a profit, then it is time to put your money where your mouth is.

Fact of life, all companies are in business to make money. Frankly it's no ones business (as long as it is done legally) and it was in this case.

So you blowhard demomorons, instead of whining as you always do, how about coming up with a real solution like E85 production. At least then you be reducing pollution and decreasing the US dependence on foreign oil.

I read a recent report from a researcher who found that it costs more in fuel to raise corn to produce ethanol than the resulting fuel produced. A net loss in other words. This issue won't really be solved until we begin to well and truly run plum out of oil.
