You ought to watch The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, with Tommy Lee Jones, Dwight Yoakam and a bunch of other actors. It's on DVD now. Sort of a Cormac McCarthy-ish type story, which is why I guess I liked it so much. I didn't even fall asleep one time.

How could you be sure if you haven't seen them both? I have. Lonesome Dove is one of my all time favorites. The story line of returning the corpse of a friend for burial is the main theme of The Three Burials. It involves pretty much the whole film. That's not the case with Lonesome Dove. In addition, The Three Burials is a modern story, Lonesome Dove is historical fiction.
